Job Description

Position Summary
To drive growth in the acceptance of Visa payment products via relationships with prominent, selected key merchant clients and acquirers - specifically via business development and sales efforts aimed at ensuring transaction and payment volume growth and the development of Visa’s brand, reputation and business presence. In addition, this role will support a major Acquirer to drive spend on Visa cards over other payment options including cash. The role is also responsible for understanding and communicating local market needs in order to effectively and efficiently define market specific strategies to support the Australia team to develop card acceptance capabilities and provide merchant solutions to meet the evolving payments ecosystem.
The role also must establish and foster relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels of staff and senior management as well as other external parties that may include regulatory bodies and payment solution providers. Success in this role will be demonstrated through the development and execution of business strategies and plans, growth in card acceptance, development of merchant issuing opportunities, fulfilment and development of key merchant acceptance contracts and other projects which propagate profitable business for Visa and for our clients.

Job Scope

  • Execute the Merchant Sales & Solutions strategy for Australia to increase Visa MSV, market share, data processing revenues and create acquirer, merchant and consumer preference for Visa
  • Establish and maintain positive, beneficial and constructive relationships with key merchant client contacts and influence client preference for Visa through provision of valuable business solutions through Visa capabilities
  • Facilitate and direct internal Visa operations in response to specific merchant or merchant acquirer requests and ensure delivery of essential business support in line with growing Visa's share of wallet with the respective clients
  • Ensure a sound and healthy working relationship with allocated key merchants and key acquirers in Australia
  • Co-ordinate and present business development and product implementation opportunities to clients
  • Achieve specific merchant volume targets. Participate in market analysis and local business development and/or product development strategy; develop and submit account and/or product plan

Qualifications

Professional

  • Payments Industry knowledge and experience in particular Acquiring expertise
  • Tertiary qualified with a business/marketing degree
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Advertising, general management and business strategy experience
  • Strong inter-personal skills to foster large client relationships

Technical

  • Data processing and analysis
  • Strong knowledge of acquiring, payment processing platforms, ecommerce, fraud and fraud protection
  • Financial management
  • Project management
  • Computer literate with PowerPoint, Excel, Word Outlook and internet skills

  • Strong account management and general sales experience
