Job Description

Overview:

The primary purpose of this position is to lead strategic sourcing initiatives for marketing services (e.g., agency fees, media, creative, production, marketing technology, market research, sponsorships, promotions etc), in partnership with Marketing and Finance, to create a competitive advantage and drive sustainable bottom line and topline value.

 Responsibilities:

  • Engages and establishes business partnerships with cross functional leadership across Visa to collaborate, influence, and drive sourcing strategies

  • Builds and develops strategic sourcing professionals across both technical and leadership capabilities

  • Supports broader strategic sourcing leadership team on goal setting and annual planning

  • Lead the overall continuous strategic sourcing process from needs identification, through supplier performance management across multiple marketing categories

  • Maintain strong external focus by leveraging industry peers, organizations and associations

  • Develops a deep understanding of Marketing’s requirements to identify, select and manage suppliers who have the capacity and capability to meet Marketing’s needs.

  • A champion for change that can balance data with creative needs to drive decisions

  • Lead supplier selection and complex negotiation process. Perform market, benchmark and spend analyses. Negotiate contractual terms and conditions in partnership with business owners.

  • Builds effective strategic relationships with external suppliers to drive and execute category strategies

  • Develop and manage category wide SRM plans with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation

  • Support the implementation of Global Sourcing policies and procedures.

Qualifications

 

  • 10+ years of experience in Marketing strategic sourcing / procurement in a large complex organization

  • 5+ years leading the development and management of category plans or sourcing strategies.

  • In-depth understanding of the supplier marketplace across multiple marketing categories; deep industry and/or professional relationships with vendors in the categories a plus

  • 5+ years of leading a team

  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills and an ability to synthesize complex and technical information into clear recommendations

  • Demonstrated contract and agreement negotiation experience, including development of negotiating plans and strategies for marketing services.

  • Experience leading large internal cross functional teams within a complex global organization

  • Strong relationship-management skills and ability to influence at senior-to-exec management level both internally and externally.

  • Willingness to offer thought leadership, to think creatively, and to offer new ways to approach old problems

  • Undergraduate degree required, graduate degree preferred

  • Professional accreditation in sourcing / procurement a plus
