Job Description

What will I work on in Business and Economic Insights? We have an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to build upon the firm foundation established for our macroeconomics team covering the U.S. region. The Senior Director will manage all aspects of U.S. macroeconomic analysis, while working to retain and grow Visa’s client network and serve as the public face and Visa’s voice on the consumer economy for the U.S.

 

Key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Provide thought leadership to senior management and clients by developing insights into the interplay between U.S. macroeconomic developments, payment industry trends and consumer behavior

  • Make keynote presentations that command the attention of audiences at industry forums and for clients at the most senior-levels

  • Lead multi-media public outreach efforts to build Visa’s brand

  • Assume primary responsibility for project processes and management, communications, and dissemination of economic insights

  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry vendors and partners as appropriate

  • Define functional requirements and develop supporting financial and business need cases to support new macroeconomic research and services

  • Manage allocation of work across regional team and manage the research pipeline to maximize efficiency, throughput and quality

  • Assign engagements and provide direction to other team members
  • Develop annual plans for region – proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders ensuring research is aligned with business needs
  • Assemble and lead cross-functional (e.g., marketing, analytics, risk, business development) and cross-region teams to ensure that proposed strategies and requirements are consistent with Visa's overall strategy.

Qualifications

What is Business and Economic Insights looking for in a Senior Director? We seek experienced, pro-active, high-achieving professionals to bring innovative ideas to our economic analysis and consulting solution development. Specific requirements are:

•             Prefer advanced graduate degree in economics; however, relevant experience in lieu of advanced degree will be considered. 

•             Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial services or economic analysis.

•             Self-starter with an ability to manage own and others' priorities and adapt as required to an unstructured and fast paced work environment 

•             Ability to translate complex macroeconomic trends down to the micro level for the payments industry is expected

•             Ability to lead and influence decisions of others, including senior management.

•             Excellent written and verbal communication, story-telling, and presentation skills (including through use of PowerPoint and Excel); listening skills; executive presence.

•             Willingness to travel (up to and including 40% of the time).
