Job Description

The Global IT Asset Management Team is part of Visa's Technology Management organization. Accurate and timely IT Asset Management (ITAM) enables key corporate priorities by controlling costs, enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mitigating security & financial risks. ITAM objectives include: tracking and managing IT assets (hardware & software) throughout their life cycle, ensuring logical and consistent operational processes are defined and standard systems are implemented to acquire and maintain

IT assets, ensuring accurate and complete asset information is available to supply financial reporting, enhance business decision-making, improve time-to-market, manage asset-related liabilities and risks, & improve customer service and responsiveness, and establishing a foundation for services including Information Security, Configuration Management, Inventory Management, Release, Incident, Change and Problem Management, Service Costing, Compliance Management, Budgeting and Forecasting.

JOB SCOPE

Support the IT Asset Management function with respect to cost, control, compliance, and business objectives. Work towards specialization in software licensing: develop and demonstrate knowledge of software vendor contracts and license terms & conditions, analyze and manage contract and maintenance information, support the technical lead of the Asset Management team to manage and extend the scope and quality of software license data in the software asset database, understand software licensing models and leverage that information to improve software compliance reporting capabilities, review and improve software discovery tools/data collection, support software compliance audits and other software projects, promote and contribute to continuous improvement and best practices in the Asset Management program. 

  • Support development and execution of core team services including data access, gathering, interpretation, analysis, and reporting
  • Interpret Visa's software license agreements and identify rules, obligations, and product metrics to ensure compliance with all software licenses agreements and software usage.  Translate technical data elements to capture license compliance
  • Verify software deployment data by combination of discussions with the line of business owners and leveraging of software discovery tools, identifying under-deployments for potential cost savings and over-deployments that require the acquisition of additional rights
  • Assist business line staff in monitoring and ensuring software contract compliance and performance between departments and vendors. Work with team leadership, business groups, and accounting staff to analyze and resolve complex issues associated with software licensing rights. Ensure technical staff can deploy software.
  • Monitor software maintenance renewal requirements, coordinating with software owners on operational requirements
  • Gather requirements and develop reports for internal customers. As part of the vendor scorecard process, facilitates and participates regularly in meetings and discussions between the vendor and appropriate System and/or customer resources
  • Develop, implement, and refine software asset management policies, processes and procedures. Contribute to software process improvements and automation
  • Execute Policy and Process in support of ITAM Program goals. Promote the IT Asset Management program and assist in setting program goals
  • Take an active role in achieving operational effectiveness
  • Provide technical expertise and support for projects and audits

Qualifications

 

  • Education Required: Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related major
  • 2 - 5+ years of experience in a software audit or software consulting role
  • ITIL, CSAM, CISA, and/or CISSP certifications (preferred)
  • Knowledge of complex vendor software contracts, licensing terminology, and software licensing rights, especially for major software vendors (IBM, Oracle, CA, Microsoft). Must be able to interpret, analyze, & summarize contracts, and evaluate pricing & licensing proposals
  • Experience in conducting software vendor audits and negotiations on behalf of a software vendor or for a 'Big 4' firm
  • Knowledge of the information system environment, including both hardware and software. Understanding of key physical & virtual open systems and mainframe hardware data attributes (processors, cores, LPARs, etc.).
  • Ability to analyze software discovery data and configure/create discovery tools/scripts.
  • Proven results in software cost avoidance/savings
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of VMware Virtual Center, Microsoft SCCM, Sodftware and Hardware discovery tools, and Active Directory, as well as Unix/Windows Operating systems and networking
  • Advanced interpersonal skills ability to work effectively with internal contacts and vendors
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
