Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Systems Analyst who will become a core part of the Visa's Distributed Systems application support team. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and day-to-day care of mission critical 24x7 applications. The desired candidate will support Visa Digital and Mobile Products applications.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Responsible for supporting critical Digital and Mobile applications and ensuring the stability of the applications.
  • Perform proactive maintenance activities, engage in automation activities.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership skills in day-to-day work.
  • Take ownership of critical issues where appropriate, drive incidents to resolution in a timely manner as dictated by the impact and severity of the problem.
  • Execute decisive action to preserve and maintain service availability, performance, integrity, capacity and security.
  • Write and maintain scripts to monitor system functionality and performance.
  • Apply code and operation break fixes and other proactive maintenance activities.
  • Will evaluate the issues reported by Visa clients and members in order to provide ongoing solutions.
  • Perform performance tuning of applications.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for service failure and provide resolution.
  • Work with ticketing application to manage tickets and maintain SLA and OLA.
  • Work closely with infrastructure System Admins, Database Admins, Middleware and Network engineers to quickly diagnose and resolve issues as they arise during patching or maintenance activities.
  • While the majority of coverage will be provided via working hours in a Follow-The-Sun approach, on-call support will be required occasionally such as holidays and other possible gaps in coverage.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role your skills will include but not be limited to:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field with 8+ years of technical experience.
  • A good team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in a global environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting/debugging skills and a passion for problem solving and investigation.
  • Experience in supporting multi-tier, distributed application in Unix environment.
  • Experience and knowledge of Apache Web Server, JBoss, Tomcat, Kafka, Hadoop ecosystem, Batch Processing and  DataPower or other similar middleware platform.
  • Experience in creating/debugging CHEF cookbooks and knowledge of Jenkins is a plus.
  • Good understanding of various configuration/settings for web applications.
  • Good knowledge and hands on experience in Unix environment.
  • Experience with ITIL, BMC Remedy and ticketing workflows.
  • Good understanding of database technologies such as MySql and Oracle with SQL skills.
  • Good understanding of data security, system policies, network firewall and load balancer.
  • Experience in using Splunk is a plus.
  • Proficient in shell scripting is a plus.
