The Platform & Reliability Engineering Client Information, Clearing and Settlement (CICAS) Middleware Applications department is part of the Network Processing Platform & Reliability Engineering organization. We are responsible for CICAS Platform development and support as well as strategic infrastructure projects related to the CICAS suite of applications.  We are looking for the right person to lead an up to ten person development team in Austin to work on technology transformation projects.  

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

This is a first line management position which will manage six to ten software engineers working on strategic projects within the CICAS domain.  The selected individual must have a strong technical background and demonstrate strong people management skills.  In addition to providing day to day leadership to the staff s/he will work to ensure that the staff morale and engagement remains high by conducting regular 1x1s to discuss career and development goals, holding weekly staff meetings and removing roadblocks which prevent the staff from being as productive as possible.  S/he will have an attitude of ownership, accountability, and sense of urgency. You will be required to:

 

  • Set clear, aligned goals and direction, effectively delegate and provide candid feedback, coaching and mentoring to maximize team competency

  • Work with CICAS management team to formulate, plan and execute strategic initiatives

  • Collaborate with directors and senior directors within the department to build seamless workflow and processes that will ensure efficient management of resources and the timely deliverable of projects which are aligned with corporate strategies and goals

  • Inform senior management of progress and any obstacles impeding the successful implementation of projects

  • Handle routine daily activities such as coordination, coaching, mentoring, recruiting, planning, delivery, quality, performance metrics, operational issues and other needs which may arise

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in  Computer Science (or equivalent technical degree)  is required, MBA is desirable

  • 10 or more years of working experience in IT industry with at least 5 years of experience in software development

  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership/management capacity

  • Hands on experience in AngularJS, NodeJS, extJS, Python, JSON, Java/J2EE, GoLang, zOS, C/C++, No SQL databases(MongoDB) and DB2

  • Familiarity with test driven development

  • Ability to assess risks and recommend risk mitigation

  • Demonstrate strong leadership and management skills

  • Excellent inter-personal and communications skills (written and verbal)

  • Capability and willingness to provide candid feedback and performance management messaging to staff

  • Proven ability to collaborate and work horizontally throughout a complex organization

  • Must be a self–starter and a team player interested in joining and maintaining a collegial work environment

  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills

  • Process oriented individual who is able to work independently with very minimal supervision

  • Accurate reporting of status to project management, product office and resource management
