Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional to join Visa in a hybrid role supporting two of Visa’s key insight generating and decision management teams. 

  • Visa Business and Economic Insights (VBEI) delivers actionable intelligence into the evolving global economy for Visa and Visa’s clients. The group harnesses its expertise, multiple data sources and deep client relationships to provide cutting-edge insights into consumer spending and the payments industry to better inform business planning and management decisions.
  • Analytics & Data products (ADP) team is a key part of decision management engine at Visa; this is a high-performing team of data scientists, data analysts, statisticians, and business analysts from a variety of countries – serving major FIs and merchants. ADP is looking for a hands-on person that earns trust and respect of the team. The person must be results oriented, highly organized, and must be focused on delivering innovative analytics work.

 

The hybrid nature of this role will suit candidates whose passions lay at the intersection of big data and economic insights with a natural affinity for storytelling.

You will be responsible for developing Data Analytics solutions to solve complex business problems. Here, you will be required to work with large data sets using quantitative techniques and build complex statistical models that learn from large volumes of data. We have a highly collaborative process and you are required to work across multiple teams and functions for developing cutting edge, creative and advanced analytic solutions and processes.

 

You will also help us to retain and grow Visa’s client network and consumer economy, and leverage Visa’s data to provide unique insights into the consumer economy, with a particular focus on the Asia Pacific.

 

Responsibilities

 

We seek experienced, pro-active, high-achieving professionals to bring innovative ideas and solutions to work every day. Specific requirements are:

 

  • Provide thought leadership to senior research and analytics management by developing insights into the interplay between macroeconomic developments, payment industry trends and consumer behavior
  • Develop and maintain PC-based econometric models and market segment databases to forecast industry trends and performance.
  • Assume primary responsibility for project processes, management and internal communications of analytics/economics insights
  • Design big data research projects which leverage Visa’s data to help better inform client business decisions.
  • Generate insights into key trends and developments in the US /global economies and how they impact our client’s business.
  • Actively participate in the integration of analytics and economics within the scope of this role to deepen client engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry vendors and partners as appropriate

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum of 7+ years of analytical experience in applying statistical/econometric solutions to business problems
  • Post Graduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in a Quantitative field preferably in Econometrics/Economics, Statistics or similar
  • Hands on experience with one or more data analytics/programming tools such as SAS/Hive/R/SQL/Python
  • Proficiency in some of the following: Econometric modeling, Predictive modeling techniques (e.g., Linear and Logistic regression, ANOVA); Classification techniques (e.g., Clustering, Principal Component Analysis, factor analysis); Decision Tree techniques (e.g., CART, CHAID), machine learning approaches with predictive and classification etc.,  
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, and managing multiple analytic projects with diverse cross-functional stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate solutions to solve business problems
  • Results oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
  • Good business acumen with strong ability to solve business problems through data driven quantitative methodologies. Experience in payment, retail banking, or retail merchant industries is preferred
  • Understanding of Cards/Payments and Banking business model would be a plus
  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible style, with the ability to tailor data driven results to various audience levels
  • Detailed oriented, is expected to ensure highest level of quality/rigor in reports & data analysis
  • Proven skills in translating analytics output to actionable recommendations, and delivery
  • Experience in presenting ideas and analysis to stakeholders
  • Exhibit intellectual curiosity and strive to continually learn
