Job Description

The Corporate Communications Content Team is seeking an experienced and passionate Content Writer and Strategist to help execute the vision of its editorial-style brand storytelling. Our best-in-class multimedia content supports Visa’s communications initiatives as well as its reputational and business goals in partnership with the Visa Communications team. Our primary platforms for publishing and promotion are our owned channels including Visa.com, Visa’s corporate LinkedIn page and @VisaNews Twitter, as well as occasional sponsored content projects in partnership with publishers.

This position reports to the Corporate Communications Head of Content and works closely with the Content Team’s art director and director of video content strategy.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned writer and content strategist with the ability to generate ideas for compelling content that reflects Visa's messaging and business goals. The candidate must project-manage a variety of ambitious projects simultaneously with grace. The candidate will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to create compelling stories that align with Visa Communications initiatives in the areas of innovation, security, employer brand and sponsorship (Olympic Games, FIFA and NFL), that target consumer or media/B2B audiences, depending on the objective. The Content Writer develops the content plan for each initiative as well as the execution of each content plan, using agency support where necessary, and moves projects forward through approvals and final publication.

The Content Writer must have expertise in owning content agency and executive relationships and must be tech-savvy enough to manage brand publishing workflows and tools.

This position is split between Visa’s San Francisco and Foster City, where the team has a video/audio studio.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES:

  • Execute a comprehensive content strategy that helps to build brand affinity, establishes Visa as an innovative thought leader in the payments technology space and drives traffic and engagement

  • Partner with internal communications stakeholders to develop compelling content that will support their messaging and strategic business goals as well as maximize performance on our owned channels

  • Write news articles, executive blogs and documentary-style scripts in engaging, jargon-free language for both consumer and B2B audiences, translating complex technology concepts and processes into layperson terms for external audiences

  • Interview video subjects and cull transcripts for various uses

  • Manage agency and freelancer relationships and ensure all content conforms with Visa’s voice and brand standards (including AP style guidelines)

  •  Manage editorial calendar and lead cross-departmental meetings among Visa’s content creators

  • Fact-check and comply with legal standards for commercial speech as well as SAG where applicable

  • Keep pace with ever-evolving content marketing best practices and innovations and make ongoing process improvement, software, agency and creative resource recommendations to ensure the highest quality work product.

Qualifications

 

  • Journalism background a plus, including reporting and editing

  • 5+ years in corporate brand journalism or content strategy

  • High level of creativity in designing content that inspires, engages, informs and motivates

  • Passion for technology and storytelling

  • Highly proficient in project management; understanding of brand publishing platforms such as NewsCred

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent communications skills
