Job Description

The Digital and Mobile Products organization is building a new generation of applications to facilitate commerce in everyone's new digital lives.  Our focus is to build profoundly simple mobile apps that embed into our customers' everyday lives. 

This role is to work with Visa as a Staff Software Engineer in Test (SDET) on our Android and iOS platforms.  In this position, you are first-and-foremost passionate about owning Quality for a rapidly scaling, white-labelled mobile platform.  You will provide technical leadership, design and build test suites / test frameworks.  You have experience being a technical test lead for your mobile team.  This is a hands-on position that requires broad engineering and test competence.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience successfully planning, organizing, testing and delivering mobile projects as part of a cross-functional Agile team.

As a Staff SDET, you will have a demonstrated track record of delivering test automation, quality requirements and designing / executing functional test suites.  You will be responsible for the architecture and execution of our test automation suite.  You will generate metrics and information that will improve development practices on the team.  You will review and critique stories, technical requirements and software design specifications to help the combined team create a better test plan.  You will help to instill best practices and passion for testing in your team resulting in successfully delivering a high quality product that meets business requirements and timelines.

You are a passionate and talented engineer that can work in a dynamic environment as a member of an Agile Scrum team.  To start, you have solid problem solving abilities, coding, testing and debugging skills.  You will have a great deal of passion about code quality and a solid understanding of security, usability and quality assurance.  You must be willing to go beyond the routine and prepared to do a little bit of everything. 

This position is based in Austin, TX, and will report to a Director of Software Engineering.

Education/Experience

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or other related fields with a minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering with high quality.

Skills  

  • Expert level in designing, developing and delivering QA automation testing
  • At least 3 years of testing iOS and Android mobile apps.
  • Experience in testing secure, multi-platform mobile applications.
  • Experience testing a white-labelled product a big plus.
  • Experience transitioning an organization from manual to automated testing a plus.
  • Strong automation testing skills – Selenium, XCTest, Espresso, Cucumber or Appium
  • Strong Java and/or Swift experience
  • Strong knowledge of Agile testing methodologies
  • Experience using RESTful APIs to do integration testing.
  • Experience working in a Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery environment
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments in an environment that requires multitasking among concurrent projects.
  • Ability to provide thought leadership on mobile excellence and best practices
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills along with effective communication
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities:  mentor, collaborate, enable and inspire
  • Proven ability to work and have fun in a team environment.

 Major Job Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Work as a key member of our team developing high quality mobile payment and banking applications, write solid code following best development practices.
  • Influence product direction in mobile payments and banking domains.
  • Work as a part of scrum team executing the products requirements working with UX, Product Management and other teams in an Agile manner.
  • Drive projects to completion by collaborating with peers to overcome blockers
  • You believe in code quality, TDD and pair programming
  • Execute POCs for visionary initiatives
