Job Description

The Senior Director of Franchise Risk Management & Performance Enhancement is responsible for ensuring clients operate card issuing and merchant acquiring programs in a manner that promotes effective fraud management practices and equity across the payment system. The position is also responsible for global policy development and strategic oversight of regional CB & fraud programs to protect the payment system from excessive levels of disputes. A core responsibility will include development and implementation of an issuer-monitoring program and refining an existing acquirer-monitoring program both with emphasis on mitigating CNP fraud.  The position is responsible for management of industry fraud reporting standards, ownership of a global fraud working group and development of a global fraud reporting compliance program to ensure both the accuracy and equity of client fraud reporting practices.  The position provides consultative support to clients and regional risk teams when onsite reviews are required of erring clients. 

Primary Responsibilities:

o   Establish strategic direction of global chargeback and fraud compliance programs and policies and ensure alignment with corporate strategies and objectives.   

o   Develop, implement and establish strategic direction of a global issuer-monitoring program to support strategic CNP objectives and improve fraud liability equity across the payment system. Carefully balance regional enforcement of Visa rules that mandate fee assessments for erring partners while striving to maintain client relationships.

o   Owner of the Visa Fraud Reporting Standards, System and Policy; leader of a global fraud working group with objective of ensuring accurate, timely reporting and elimination of practices that improperly transfer fraud liability to innocent parties.  Development and execution of a global fraud reporting compliance program.

o   Ensure acquirer level fraud and chargeback monitoring programs meet program objectives and clients adequately perform their gate keeping roles       

o   Analyze root cause of program violations and collaborate with internal and external staff to proactively identify, develop and optimize issuing and acquiring practices

o   Provide value added insights, thought leadership and structure to enhance strategic relationships and address emerging risk issues. Build out unique, creative and impactful solutions by integrating insights across Visa’s many expert functional resources and leading collaborative solution development.

o   Ensure regional fee assessments and billing process complies with global policy and do not present undue risks.

o   Prepare reports, briefings and other written products for Visa Executive Management Committees on program activities and issues affecting Visa, its clients and overall payment system participants.

o   Provide clear and concise executive level communications that facilitate prioritization and high impact decision making.

o   Support team in improving efficiency by defining and implementing process improvements.

o   Represent Visa programs and policies at client risk forums and industry risk summits.

Qualifications

o   10 to 15 years risk management within the payment card industry

o   7 years as a payments industry professional managing issuing and acquiring related risks

o   Advanced knowledge of issuer and acquirer risk management / operational practices and ability to resolve complex incidents involving excessive cb and fraud activity

o   Superior knowledge of industry best practices to mitigate CNP fraud;

o   Advanced knowledge of Visa payment system operations with emphasis on the fraud reporting and dispute resolution rules, practices related best practices

o   Strong leadership and analytical skills, with ability to influence diverse teams in a global environment

o   Superior written, oral and presentation skills and an ability to synthesize information and make clear, concise recommendations on course of action

o   High level of self-motivation and ability to operate effectively as a team player

o   Ability to identify and pursue multiple initiatives and deliver superior results

o   Undergraduate degree required, graduate degree preferre
