This position reports to the Director for the Data Platform Solution Engineering and is based in Palo Alto, CA. The role is that of Staff SW Engineer. The successful candidate will act as a technical expert and work directly with multiple project development teams in order to translate business requirements into executable designs on the platform. The job involves system architecture, administration, design, development and project support in a fast moving dynamic environment. The successful candidate will ensure superior levels of customer satisfaction by enabling and supporting this state of the art data mining and analytics environment for strategic analytics at Visa. Success in this role will require technical depth and a customer focused demeanor with a self motivating personality and a strong work ethic; Superior communication skills verbal, written, listening and presentation are a must.

1. A minimum of 5-7 years of technical experience with a focus on open source and large data implementations in the Petabyte range. Business acumen and technical expertise are both required for the role. Experience with multiple open source tool sets in the Big Data space. Experience with both traditional waterfall and iterative rapid release methodologies. 

2. A minimum of 2 years of experience as technical expert organizing and mentoring junior and intermediate level engineers.

3. Proven Linux experience including good knowledge of scripting in Shell, and Python.

4. Hadoop Distributed Data Files System experience.

5. Experience with Hive, Sqoop, Flume, Spark, Solr, Hbase, Kafka and Yarn.

6. Good understanding Search Architecture and Implementation

7. Minimum of four year technical degree required

8. Certified Hadoop Developer and Administrator status a plus.

9. Experience on Cloudera and Horntonworks distribution preferred.
