Job Description

The Test Engineering team in VisaNet Integrated Payment (VIP) is part of the Network Processing Switching Systems organization. We are responsible for engineering test solutions for Visa Integrated Payment Application. We deliver quality services and solutions using best-in-class processes, methodologies, and technology with our worldwide workforce. We are an integral part of delivering projects that support the World Wide Business Releases bi-annually, monthly and weekly projects and maintenance work, as well as multiyear infrastructure projects that introduce new programming logic via, C++ and Object Oriented code. We also support and work with other peer Test Engineering organizations on integration, downstream testing to ensure no defects impact production processes.

The VIP Test Engineering team is committed to leveraging innovative technology to enhance software quality and to accelerate time-to-market. We test over 1000 changes to our systems in any given year while collaboratively maintaining a better than 99 percent fail safe percentage to an authorization system that supports up to 65,000 transactions per second (billions of messages a year). Visa has one of the most visible and most used comprehensive payment systems in the world. It is an exciting time for any professional to join the Network Processing Test Engineering team.

The Director, VIP Test Engineering and Test Support will be based in Denver, Colorado and will report to Visa's Network Processing Test Engineering Management based in Foster City, California. The successful candidate will support Test Engineering efforts for the VisaNet Integrated Payment (VIP) system, Visa's largest revenue generating platform and work with other peer Test Engineering organizations to insure seamless code releases.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a Test Engineering and Test Support team; leverage the expertise of the staff and integrate activities

  • Serve as key liaison between business, project management, and cross-functional technical development staff to ensure that specifications and standards meet requirements

  • Collaborate with Development and Test Engineering staff across matrixed groups in multiple geographic locations;

  • Set clear, aligned goals and direction; delegate and provide candid feedback and coaching to maximize team competency

  • Work with Switching Systems management team to formulate, plan and execute strategic initiatives

  • Actively drive the automation of manual test and support processes in collaboration with teams at other geographic locations to increase team productivity and expand test coverage.

  • Work with other directors and senior directors within the department to build seamless workflow and processes that will ensure efficient management of resources and the timely delivery of projects and work units

  • Collaborate and consult with other directors and senior directors in other parts of the organization to ensure that project objectives are aligned with quality standards, strategies, and goals

  • Manage relationship with Product, Client Support Services, various PMO offices, cross-platform technology teams and other stakeholders to ensure collaborative, smooth, healthy and open working relationship is maintained

  • Keep senior management informed of progress and any obstacles impeding the successful implementation of projects and other departmental activities thru status reports, presentations, etc.

  • Handle routine daily activities such as logistics, coordination, coaching, mentoring, recruiting, planning, delivery, quality, customer/vendor relationships, performance metrics, operations, efficiency and other services

  • Mentor and lead other members of the department in the area of test engineering, test support and development best practices

  • Provide guidance to engineers on their daily tasks including hands-on coding/testing as needed

  • Develop and implement a resource plan in support of Test Support team

  • Contribute to code and load quality initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent technical degree) is required, Masters degree in Engineering or Management a plus

  • 10 or more years of working experience in IT industry within Software Development, Test Engineering and Test Automation/tool development for Legacy systems

  • Proven experience in leading critical projects and programs within the Electronic Payment/Financial Services industry

  • Extensive experience in development and testing of zOS based applications/systems and development of Test Automation for these systems

  • Strong understanding of various development methodologies and their respective best practices

  • Experience with managing vendor relationships

  • Excellent inter-personal and communications skills (verbal and written)

  • Proven ability to collaborate and work horizontally throughout a complex organization

  • Creative thinking and excellent problem solving skills

  • Process oriented and able to work independently with very minimal supervision
