Job Description

Position Summary
A Chinese proverb says, “All things change, and we change with them.”  As the VP for Innovation & Strategic Partnerships for Greater China, you will be leading a change movement affecting Visa, an ecosystem, and in the lives of 3.8 billion people in the region.

You will be the primary face for Visa and our innovation agenda in the Greater China region, helping our clients and partners understand how we can collaborate together to bring the art of the possible to reality. You will lead a team of passionate innovation evangelists to deliver the full spectrum of Visa Innovation engagements including: Discovery sessions, Co-creation workshops and Strategic Partnerships.

The Innovation and Strategic Partnerships team works closely with Visa’s Core Product and Digital Solutions teams as well as other stakeholders such as Processing, CyberSource, Risk, Finance, Marketing, etc. teams to execute partnership agreements and deliverables that are typically highly complex, strategic and cross-functional in nature.

Responsibilities
• Build and lead a strong, engaged and passionate Innovation & Strategic Partnerships team for Greater China
• Establish the Visa AP brand of innovation in the minds of AP clients and partners, in accordance with overall strategy of the Visa Innovation & Strategic Partnerships group and futurist view of the innovation landscape
• Facilitate programs and engagements to advance regional co-creation focus areas based on innovation themes in the market, Visa capabilities and priorities and client needs
• Identify strategic partners that will help grow Visa’s business, interests, and influence in the local market.
• Lead the development of proposals and negotiate contractual relationships with strategic partner.
• Support the Innovation and Strategic Partnerships executive team in developing the overall group strategy
• Engage with various Visa internal groups in technology, risk, marketing, products, IP, etc. to drive collaboration, access and permissions to deliver co-creation prototypes
• Work with pooled and dedicated resources in collaboration with various product and businesses within Visa to build content for the Visa innovation narrative
• In coordination with other I&SP units, plan and deliver workshops, panels and gatherings that bring together various payment ecosystem partners, including emerging players in the valley, in order to drive engagement with Visa innovation and create potential co-creation opportunities
• Build and lead the execution and management of a deal portfolio projected to exceed $100 million
• Solve problems that arise during the execution of programs with partners
• Develop and deliver the Commerce Ecosystem Sector strategy and objectives in the Greater China region
• Proactively identify and solve complex problems that impact the management, relationship and direction of the business
• Continuously review client and market landscape and recommend, develop, and implement new and creative approaches that ensures that the client’s business objectives are met as well as grow the Visa business
 

 

 

Qualifications

• Vision and passion for our business, with high energy and intelligence
• Strong understanding of trends and themes in payments and commerce. Futurist outlook and passion for technology innovation. Understanding of Visa business and organization strongly preferred
• 15+ years relevant industry experience with a minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in the sector, with related business development or strategy consulting roles
• Outstanding executive communication skills as a spokesperson for Innovation & Strategic Partnerships within Visa and across the industry to influence, educate and evangelize industry stakeholders with commercial outcomes
• Strategic, analytical thinker who consistently challenges the status quo and constructively challenges the team to aim for higher ground; change agent
• Demonstrated capabilities in client engagement at C-level – communication, presence, and thought leadership
• Proven experience in managing interfaces to technology development groups, data scientists and other technical teams in order to translate business needs to deliverables
• Proven experience in managing complex, cross-functional projects across internal and external organizations
• Ability and mindset to work collaboratively across various Visa and Innovation functions
• Top tier MBA strongly preferred

The function that this individual performs is key to delivering on Visa’s “Expand Access” strategic pillar. It forms a part of Visa’s Acceptance development, merchant relations, interchange management and industry stakeholder management team.
