Job Description

This newly created position of a Sr. Director, Controllership is critical to drive the constant enhancement in Visa’s finance function. Specifically, this position will be responsible for helping to lead the design, development and delivery of organizational and cultural changes for large-scale transformation efforts.  Working on multiple internal projects, this position will have had experience with leadership alignment efforts, driving organizational readiness, change readiness and impact assessment analysis, stakeholder and employee engagement, large-scale training programs, organizational and talent performance analysis, and communication programs.

This role is in Foster City and reports to the Assistant Controller – Operations located in Foster City.

This position is required to identify and implement improvement opportunities to not only drive transformational changes but also be able to ensure that organization experiences the difference and is able to understand the value a change management function can bring. The upcoming years are transformative and will change the way Visa Finance operates over the next several years. It is critical that this position is able to influence the organization, work with the leaders, drive the necessary message, and be instrumental in changing the culture at Visa.

This role poses several challenges in terms of complexity of the way business is done in various locations, regulatory laws and having to do things in an optimal manner. This position is required to influence stakeholders, challenge status-quo, and bring new and improved ways of doing things to Visa.

This role will lead projects from inception to completion including regular interactions on various initiatives with the CFOs, Business Heads and Senior Leadership team. This position will also be responsible for working closely with cross-functional stakeholders globally including Finance, Procurement, Controllership, Sales, Marketing, Product, Information Technology etc. and lead the various region (s) through change. In addition, this role needs to deliver business benefits, which in turn will translate to better
client service, enhance employee engagement scores, and drive efficiency while maintaining adequate controls. Specifically the Sr. Director needs to be a: 

  • A Thought Leader: Visa Finance  is on a journey to be a more agile organization and change the way we work, including a shift in how we think about change. Specifically this  position needs to:

  • Lead critical initiatives requiring significant strategic and change support to frame key issues, develop hypotheses, conduct analyses, and test potential solutions prior to designing broader implementation plans.

  • Provide overall change leadership; including leading the setup and ongoing management of the Change Management methodology and approach, lead the systems training function, and provide change mentoring/coaching.

  • Robust understanding of the operations to clearly articulate impacts of large transformational change

  • Strategically Oriented as evidenced by an ability to understand the business context in which the solutions are being implemented to ensure alignment across functions within regions, hubs and global.  A strong business sense and ability to clearly define the change solution in the context of the business environment is critical.

  • Seamless Execution: This position does not only design programs but also needs to be able to execute change using modern and innovative approaches. This roles needs to be results oriented while managing large complex projects from design to implementation with an eye towards preparing and motivating stakeholders to excel in the target state. This role needs to have the ability to ensure all aspects of a program yield optimum results. S/he should be organized, structured and diligent in setting time-bound objectives and navigating roadblocks and eliminating barriers to successful attainment of those objectives.

  • Team Leadership that is able to attract and develop a highly skilled team (insourced and outsourced). The candidate must demonstrate flexibility in style to bring out the best in people
    with different backgrounds and working styles, while unifying them in purpose, role clarity, and expectations related to deliverables. S/he must have a passion for the mandate and instill that passion within his/her team while also promoting the highest standards of ethics and compliance.

  • Collaborative and able to Influence key stakeholders by building meaningful relationships in a large enterprise across functions, levels and geographic borders. S/he must be skilled in communicating complex ideas and must be open to ideas from others.

  • Motivated: Must actively engage throughout global Visa to exploit this unique opportunity and find innovative ways to drive change within the organization.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Execute upon the vision, mission, strategies and annual goals for the department in
      alignment with the Company's goals.

    • Drive activities to support future change and transition initiatives

    • Work cross-functionally with other areas of the organization to manage adoption
      programs

    • Develop  and deploy user adoption/training programs inclusive of process changes for technology implementation initiatives 

    • Develop project- focused communication solutions to effectively communicate to stakeholder audiences

    • Manage and coach a team to support deployment of effective adoption initiatives

    • Develop and manage work plans, status reports, resource budgets and executive briefings

    • Ensure that the project can deliver the benefits outlined in the business case and that it meets the reasonable expectations of end users.

    • Be responsible for procurement of project related professional services, and managing vendor costs, schedule and deliverables.

Qualifications

    • Top tier consulting experience.

    • Ability to travel up to 60% is required.

    • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple
      projects and priorities concurrently.

    • Strong change management methodology background, including impact analysis,
      stakeholder management, custom communication planning and development,
      organizational design, training analysis, issue and risk management experience,
      strategic planning and analysis.

    • Proven leader with extensive ability to build solid and collaborative relationships
      with team members, foster a productive team environment, and coach staff with
      timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.

    • Minimum of 3 years of managing large scale complex transformational progra

    • Certifications:Change Management Certification preferre

    • Years of  Experience: Minimum of 7 – 10 years of professional experience

    • Education: MBA or relevant advanced degree
