Job Description

PURPOSE

The Director of Corporate Communications for Taiwan role focuses on enhancing Visa’s reputation in the market. The position consists of two core responsibilities:  

1.    Act as Taiwan Market Lead for Corporate Communications, capable of developing communication strategy through to executing the plan and evaluating campaign effectiveness.

2.    The Director also plays an instrumental role in the delivery of communication programs that support business objectives and drive growth across borders within Greater China, with opportunities to create impactful work with regional scope. Programs also include financial literacy-related and other corporate responsibility activities and digital initiatives.


The role entails working closely with the Senior Director of Corporate Communications for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan to counsel and support cross-functional colleagues including Client Relationship Management, Marketing, Product, Merchant Sales and Acquiring, Consulting and Analytics, Risk, and Government Relations. The Director ensures that Corporate Communications contributes to the overall business objectives.

The role will be based in Taipei, Taiwan with travel to Hong Kong, and reports to the Senior Director of Corporate Communications for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. The role’s responsibility includes managing Visa’s public relations and social media agencies, as well as any other agency on a project basis.

Part of Visa’s Global Corporate Communications group, the function oversees external and internal communications activities in Visa Inc., including media relations, employee communications, public affairs and issues management. It develops corporate narratives for the company and oversees communication programs that support Visa Inc.'s brand, marketing, product, and technology strategies and also supports executive communication and digital communication strategies.

Corporate Reputation
•    Lead Visa’s external and internal communication programs in Taiwan
•    Develop the strategy and manage the execution of local media engagement
•    Identify and maximise opportunities to enhance Visa’s profile in the media
•    Develop communication programs that demonstrate the value of Visa to external stakeholders, including the media, clients, government officials, and non-governmental organisations
•    Create key messages that communicate the attributes of trust, choice and growth of Visa as a business and an organisation
•    Develop content to promote Visa’s brand, technical and industry leadership, new products and services, as well as corporate responsibility activities
•    Establish and maintain close relationships with journalists across general, business, lifestyle and technology media
•    Help manage relationships with journalists  

Greater China
•    Work with the Senior Director of Corporate Communications for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan to develop and deliver original and relevant communication campaigns that will drive cross-border growth and defend Visa’s reputation in Greater China markets
•    Work with the Hong Kong team in large-scale activities and campaigns as needed
•    Help to grow Visa’s multi-sectoral financial literacy programs, as well as corporate responsibility activities, in Hong Kong and Greater China  

Executive Relations
•    Provide executive communication support to the leadership team in Taiwan across a variety of internal, external, client, and media communications opportunities  

Integrated Stakeholder Engagement & Marketing Communications
•    Collaborate with Government Relations to ensure that Visa is communicating in one, unified voice to all external stakeholders   
•    Collaborate with Marketing to ensure all campaigns and programs are aligned and a coordinated approach is being taken to leverage Visa’s assets across the markets
•    Work closely with Human Resources on employee communications and branding activities

Social media
•    Work with the Senior Director of Corporate Communications for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan to develop the strategy around Visa’s presence across social media channels
•    Management relationships with social media agencies, influencers, and content development process for Visa’s social channels in English and Chinese

Qualifications

Professional
•    First degree with eight to 10 years of Public Relations experience working in a relevant corporation, public relations consultancy, or communication agency  
•    Strong network of local and/or international media contacts
•    Finance and/or technology experiences; open to applicants from related industry
•    Experiences managing communications agencies across geographies and cultural environments   
•    Background in financial journalism, a plus
•    Strategic communications planning skills, a must
•    Open-minded, solutions-oriented team player
•    Good interpersonal and presentation skills
•    Financial budgeting
•    Outstanding speaking and writing abilities in English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Mandarin 


Technical
•    Microsoft Office competency
•    Expertise in social media and digital communication channels; such as LinkedIn
