Job Description

The Director of Marketing Data Operations & Governance will be part of the newly formed Global Marketing Operations & Governance team within Visa's Global Marketing Capabilities team, which enables data-driven, connected customer experiences that are strategically aligned to Visa’s business priorities.  The Global Marketing Operations & Governance team is charged with establishing an operational infrastructure to enable Visa's global marketers to deliver best-in-class, data-driven marketing and drive operational excellence and efficiency.  The team is seeking individuals highly passionate about marketing and operations and eager to build Visa's marketing operations infrastructure. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement, and oversee governance of Visa's marketing data management:
    • Define, manage, and monitor global adoption of marketing data management policies, standards, and best practices with Visa's marketers and agency partners, covering topics such as data taxonomies, data privacy, consistent measurement plans, etc.
    • Lead data privacy-related initiatives including data inventorying and mapping and privacy impact assessments, in close partnership with the Visa Data Privacy team, regional/local marketers, and marketing agencies
    • Develop a corporate-wide community around marketing data management, focused on sharing best practices, establishing standards, and recognizing effective results
    • Create a measurement plan for data governance that drives accountability and monitors the strategic value and operational effectiveness of governance
  • Define the strategic agenda for marketing data management, collaborating closely with regional and country marketing, IT, and Marketing Analytics teams to:
    • Prioritize initiatives and maintain a roadmap for data management improvements
    • Advise on and define data acquisition strategies and ensure alignment to marketing data governance framework
  • Serve as a liaison between Marketing and other functional teams (IT, Data Privacy, Legal, etc.) to ensure alignment of Marketing activities to functional-team processes and requirements

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant data management and governance experience within a global Marketing organization
  • Deep understanding of data architecture, CRM and marketing automation platforms (such as Eloqua and Marketo), customer data platforms, tag management systems, and consent management platforms
  • Deep understanding of data privacy-related regulations (i.e. GDPR) and impact to marketing, including privacy-related industry certifications such as CIPP
  • Experience establishing common cross-channel taxonomies and managing day-to-day governance activities
  • Strong passion towards business operations and marketing, especially in humanizing operations within a marketing environment
  • Experience leading through influence, leveraging strong relationships with global leaders, stakeholders, clients, and partners, both face-to-face and virtually
  • Outstanding communication skills able to translate strategies, policies, and standards into a scalable, understandable format and articulate the value of work to the business
  • Experience in change management: deep understanding and demonstration of application of change management processes in complex environments
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience working in ambiguous / start-up environments
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to observe and translate operational challenges into strategic, actionable objectives
  • Extremely adaptable and quick learner
  • Proven team player, highly adaptable to new opportunities, and able to learn complex topics quickly
  • Bachelor’s Degree and MBA or advanced degree is highly desirable
