Job Description

Global Strategic Initiatives is working to assess and act on the opportunity to develop and lever a strong global Visa commitment to consumer data privacy.   Our goal is to understand consumer behaviors and emerging needs, define the required policy and processes, develop new service offerings, and promote Visa’s perspective through our Marketing, Corporate Communications, Government Relations, and Public Policy efforts.   To pursue this ambition, we are looking for a digital savvy project leader who is passionate about the issue of consumer data privacy and can work to define and bring to market new, innovative solutions to address consumers’ emerging data privacy needs.    This project leader will work with internal resources, external resources and stakeholders, and clients to identify and prioritize privacy opportunities, develop program solutions,   and support the execution of programs’ launch and roll-out.   The role will be critical to the coordinated execution of Visa’s multi-work stream response to the market, technology, and regulatory changes occurring on the privacy front.   In addition, the project leader will work externally to develop and network the data privacy “ecosystem” of regulators, advocates, thought leaders, and “Privacytech” companies.

This is a matrixed, cross-functional role so organizational savvy and strong interpersonal skills are critical.   This leader will interface with multiple groups across Visa including product groups, financial institution sales, merchant sales, Visa consulting, operations, technology, risk, analytics, marketing and corporate communications, public policy, and government relations to coordinate the build, launch, and support of new and existing policies, programs, and products.   Visa is looking for individuals that are thought leaders on data privacy with a strong orientation towards product commercialization and marketplace impact.    This project leader should have a proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines.

Successful candidates will take ownership for addressing consumers’ need for strong data privacy solutions and policies that help build Visa brand loyalty.    This position may require occasional travel to client sites and Visa locations around the globe.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the data privacy strategic roadmap to drive the creation and execution of multiple new programs and services, and as well as triage additions/changes to the roadmap, as needed.  Scope includes:

    • Be fully responsible for commercial success of product development strategy, innovation launch, and commercialization

    • Partner with the Global Privacy Office, Data Products, Product Management, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Government Relations, and Public Policy to assess and understand the marketplace dynamics and opportunities around consumer data privacy

    • Partner with finance, strategy, legal, and other functions to define pricing strategy, pricing model, and incentives approaches, as applicable

    • Define the business case for funding, build internal support, design the execution roadmap and establish success metrics

    • Collaborate with Product Management, Data Products, and Global Systems to develop the detailed product requirements and execute the technology build

    • Effectively communicate the commercialization roadmap across the organization

    • Establish program and work across Sales, Marketing, Risk, and Customer Support to fulfill product and launch objectives

    • Define, coordinate, and manage customer support strategy and execution

    • Be a thought leader for developing the Visa approach to consumer data privacy, relevant business plans and overall development roadmap

    • Influence policy when needed

    • Develop presentations and facilitate update meetings with the senior leadership team, and actively manage organizational expectations regarding product and enhancement rollouts

    • Build external relationship with current and future potential partners in the consumer data privacy ecosystem

Qualifications

  • Self-starter with a bias toward action and proven track record for successfully developing, building, launching, and commercializing new technology products

  • 10-15+ years of experience, including at least eight years of experience leading product management, project management and or management consulting; Fintech industry experience preferred 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration skills to drive cross-organizational collaboration

  • Demonstrated thought leadership and the aptitude to think creatively and identify new ways to innovate and differentiate products with evidence of tangible business results

  • Proven project development experience

  • Strong sense of urgency and experience driving to successful commercialization

  • Has management capabilities to Ensure ensure personal efforts are integrated and aligned with functional objectives

  • Strong collaboration and influence skills to effectively lead cross-functional teams to drive deliverables, projects, and engagements to completion

  • Take prompt, decisive action after analyzing relevant information

  • Ability to explain complex business and technical concepts to broad audiences in an approachable way

  • Comfort working closely with Engineering and/or Systems Architects required

  • Experience partnering with technologists using Agile or other expedited design and development methodologies preferred

  • Knowledge of and interest in consumer data privacy issues is important

  • Project Management certification a plus

  • Financial services industry knowledge is a plus, but not required
