Job Description

Group Overview
The Japan Merchant Sales & Solutions team is responsible for the short and long term growth of merchant acceptance for Visa’s existing and new Digital products and services. The team is focused on expanding acceptance for contactless and enabling a cash free market in conjunction with our Tokyo 2020 Olympic games. The team will achieve its success through working with and through its acquiring partners, key merchant partners and the technology firms driving innovation in the market place. 

The Role
This position will be responsible for growing Visa’s share of the eCommerce fraud management tools business in Japan. The role is to identify target merchants and industries that have the highest need and best fit for our value proposition – to help merchants improve their online sales performance while managing their online payment risk effectively. You will work closely with the Visa Merchant Sales and Acquiring team in Japan along the CyberSource expert teams across Asia Pacific and globally. You will be measured on direct and indirect revenues and other related growth targets, based on an agreed portfolio of accounts - targeting strategic local and multi-national accounts. You will be held accountable for the strategy, planning and forecasting against budget, as well as utilizing key metrics to track and measure effort and success.

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary sales point of contact for CyberSource in Japan, focusing on implementing a strategy of identifying and selling into key enterprise accounts
  • Identifying and executing partnership agreements with local resellers and systems integrators in Japan to bring local expertise and scale to the business
  • Grow sales of online payments and fraud management solutions into local Japanese and multi-national merchants doing business in Japan
  • Demonstrate in-depth CyberSource customer, product and services knowledge with the ability to identify opportunities to cross-sell and maximize revenue
  • Be an eCommerce and Fraud Management subject matter expert, pro-actively engaged across the payments industry to retain relevant skills and knowledge including representing the brand at trade shows, with analysts and media contacts and industry and government regulators if/when needed
  • Leverage internal resources and marketing programs as well as industry knowledge and personal sphere of influence to ensure all internal stakeholders are appropriately engaged to ensure successful conclusion and implementation of key opportunities.
  • Proactively manage internal stakeholders to ensure customer interactions are well considered and positioned to deliver added value and represent Visa’s CyberSource Risk service offerings in a credible way to market
  • Demonstrate deep financial and strategic insight into customers, and a clear understanding of customers’ e-commerce strategies, utilising industry knowledge and product insight to build a value proposition and deliver against a customer’s long-term strategy
  • High degree of self-sufficiency, but reports to management regularly and provides timely updates on both Pipeline and Forecasts and Product feature requests for all related product lines and services
  • Proactively updates CRM and other business tools to ensure accurate data is available and sales activity is recorded and role models best practice sales administration practices for other team members
  • Negotiate pricing and discounts as well as contractual terms within set parameters
  • Build and maintain relationships with global counterparts to drive a collaboration culture in which best practice is shared and work with global colleagues on joint projects and global merchant relations where required

  • Results focused, must have direct, new business sales experience in an enterprise, solution-selling based e-commerce environment
  • You are a natural-born new business sales “hunter”, disciplined to setup the right cadence of prospecting, pipeline generation and selling and activation with your target accounts to deliver strong results on new revenues and aggressive growth targets  
  • You will have extensive eCommerce industry knowledge and be contemporary with the latest issues in Digital payments, technology and local regulations
  • Digital, analytical, objectivity, drive, enthusiasm, leadership, and creativity are key attributes
  • Strategically driven leader with hands-on mentality; curiosity is part of your DNA

Essentials 

  • Graduate caliber
  • Outstanding communication skills – Japanese native, strong business English (both oral and written). 
  • Multinational experience, working in a matrixed, global company and a willingness to travel within the AP region
  • Experienced in using a CRM system, preferably Salesforce, to ensure new business activities are visible to a broad range of stakeholders

Industry experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience working in the FinTech & technology or eCommerce industry focusing on an ecommerce technology sales and service delivery (could be from either a merchant or a technology vendor)
  • Experience of cross-functional collaboration/deployment between technical service delivery, support, product & commercial teams to drive success
  • Deep knowledge of merchant systems and eCommerce platforms, products and services
  • Solidly entrenched in the eCommerce industry with a proven relationship network
