Job Description

This position reports to the Vice President of Open VisaNet Product Development and is responsible for software development and support for Visa’s next generation payment capability.  The candidate will be responsible for a global team of software leaders and engineers to execute product design, development and delivery, technology strategy and planning, and play a leadership role in strategic initiatives providing guidance to executive stakeholders.
This individual will provide thought and people leadership to identify and execute the actions required for successful delivery of one of Visa’s most significant development priorities. The individual must be a strong leader, able to engage and challenge senior audiences, identify and prioritize activities, and navigate a highly-matrixed, global environment.
Assignments are extremely complex; often involving basic non-recurring research of a universal nature where initiative and judgment is mandatory.  Position is responsible for significant product development efforts that will result in delivering Visa’s core payments processing capability.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop technology strategies and road-maps to meet business objectives with emerging technologies by partnering with Technology and Product stakeholders

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership within Open VisaNet and across Network Processing Product Development lanes

  • Keep executive management informed of progress and any obstacles impeding the successful architecture, implementation of projects and other departmental activities

  • Supports both product and technical discussions about how to apply new technology in support of strategic expectations

  • Provide technology leadership for this complex and evolving program and working across sub-functions as needed for projects that are cross-division

  • Apply creative thinking/approach to determine technical solutions that further business goals and align with corporate technology strategies, while considering security, performance, reliability, scalability, usability, flexibility, and cost

  • Partner with application architecture teams and various groups supporting the evolution of Core Systems and interfacing applications

  • Serving as liaison between the various organizational entities and building relationships with members of these organizations

  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities

  • Provide resource plans, budget tracking and forecasting. Manage the team to achieve target scope, schedule and cost objectives

  • Establish clear, aligned goals and direction; provide candid feedback and coaching to maximize team competency, support career management and development of direct reports

  • Operational Excellence: monitoring & operation of production services including understanding user experience & ensuring happy customers through collaborations with product support teams

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science / Computer Engineering, Science, Math

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience with information technology. Extensive company and payment industry knowledge

  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead global, multi-functional teams

  • An experienced technology leader with a consistent record of highly scalable product development and delivery

  • Demonstrated proficiency with distributed and open technologies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to development, document, and explain the technology strategy to diverse audiences, both technology and business, from executives to staff.

  • Ability to drive consensus across diverse, global technology and business partners will be key

  • Multi-tasking ability essential to handle multiple priorities with minimal direction from management

  • Ability to take ownership of complex, multi-faceted, open-ended problems and drive them to completion
