Job Description

Visa’s Corporate Development and Mergers and Acquisitions (CDMA) organization is responsible for helping shape Visa’s strategy through acquisitions and investments. As the payment landscape evolves, the CDMA organization partners with regional BUs and product verticals (e.g., eCommerce, security, loyalty, data analytics) to identify industry trends, build inorganic roadmaps, as well as source, evaluate, structure and execute acquisitions, joint ventures, asset divestitures and restructurings, minority investments, and other strategic initiatives across Visa globally.

The associate role will report to a Sr. Director in our corporate development team while having direct interaction with the SVP of Corporate Development, who heads Global M&A, as well as other senior company executives, and participate in all stages of the M&A and investment cycle and get significant deal making exposure. Strong candidates are expected to have a passion for learning and be a problem solver and team player who is able to work collaboratively within a group. This position will split time between San Francisco and Foster City, CA.

Responsibilities

·        Perform industry research to identify acquisition and investment opportunities to support Visa’s existing businesses or expansion into new areas

·        Partner with business teams on strategy development, including identifying and prioritizing strategic gaps, evaluating build/buy/partner options and collaborating on target selection and recommendations

·        Conduct rigorous analyses including valuation and business case modeling to provide detailed guidance and insight regarding potential acquisitions and investments

·        Implement and manage best practices; evaluate strategic, operational and financial impact; coordinate cross-functional teams to facilitate due diligence for potential transactions; develop and own financial modeling of M&A combinations; support transaction structuring and integration planning

·        Build relationships with product and regional counterparts (peer level), design and construct analytical frameworks to make decisions, identify business and operational opportunities and risks, and assist in coordinating and managing internal and external service providers (legal, accounting, investment banking, consulting, etc.)

·        Play a key role in all of Visa’s M&A activities and provide general transaction and analytic support to CDMA team including the creation of presentation materials to communicate recommendations to senior management

Qualifications

·        Minimum 1-2 years (preferably 2-3 years) of relevant work experience at a top tier investment bank; must have M&A experience (preferably buy-side)

·        Four year college degree required; this is a pre-MBA position

·        Strong analytical, modeling and valuation skills: substantial experience modeling business combinations and running valuation analyses (e.g., comparable companies, precedent transactions, discounted cash flow, etc.) and transaction analyses, e.g., contribution analysis and accretion dilution

·        Excellent drafting and writing skills, with high proficiency using Excel (financial modeling) and PowerPoint (presentations)

·        Demonstrable ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

·        High aptitude to learn quickly, assimilate to new teams and projects, and work well under pressure with appropriate attention to detail

·        Payments or technology industry knowledge and cross-border transaction experience a significant plus
