Job Description

In this mission critical role you will be responsible for the development and support of the EA Server system which has over 3,000 production deployments worldwide. This includes requirements analysis, design authority and implementation of new features and functions for developing and deploying all aspects of future EA Server releases. You will expand, spilt and manage the team into two distinct semi-autonomous groups divided by function. One group will be dedicated to the ongoing 3rd level support of ALL EA products – including the EA Server, EA Proxy, EA Gateway, EA Internet, EA Client Connection and the EA Manager. This group will be the primary interface to O&I and will work on strategic initiatives, as well as the rollout of new systems to production. The second group will be a dedicated software development team that will partner with the US based team to deliver new software and systems; in this role you will be responsible for pivoting the team to make fundamental contributions to the Access LTA and OVN. Lastly, you are expected to be a visible leader and role model amongst the wider Singapore based Network Processing Platform & Reliability organization as well as being an ambassador for the same to various external Visa partners

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience. A background of working in large software engineering organizations is required with progressively higher responsibility.

  • At least 5 years in managing a team of 10+ software and systems engineers, including contingent labor. Must have solid experience with working with cross-geographical teams.

  • Must have 10+ years experience in developing, maintaining and supporting mission-critical systems in a high availability business environment.

  • Prior experience in the payments or similar space covering the design and implementation of fault tolerant systems (think 99.999% availability) is highly desirable.

  • A proven track record of leading software projects and a background in technical project management is required. Must have experience in budget management, resource planning and forecasting.

  • Must have specific and demonstrable experience in improving software productivity, work processes, development methods and production support capability.

  • Experience with operating systems, Unix/Linux and networking based software development, including TCP/IP is required. An excellent understanding of security related technologies is required. Real-world experience implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery solutions is essential.

  • Must excel and have demonstrable experience in hiring the best talent available coupled with retention and growth.

  • The role requires superlative communication skills: verbal, written and presentation.

  • M.S. Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Take a leadership role within the Gateway Services department for the development, maintenance and sustainability of our systems.

  • Manage a team of software and systems engineers, including contingent labor, spread across multiple locations ensuring that staff are fully engaged, satisfied and productive.

  • Lead the Gateway Services department in Singapore. Additionally, provide role model leadership within the wider Singapore Network Processing (Platform & Reliability) organization as well as being an ambassador for the same to various external Visa partners; proactively identify issues with solutions to the same and regularly communicate to US based management.

  • Provide full mentorship and identify key staff to become the next generation of leaders in the Gateway Services department and beyond with full succession planning.

  • Manage projects, taking absolute ownership with end-to-end planning, resource management and communications.

  • Ensure that our production systems are always available and provide whatever effort is required to achieve this absolute objective. You must deliver software and systems to the highest levels of security at Visa.

  • Project management and execution are inherent to this role, along with strong management contributions to cover the full range of software development and support.

  • Be total quality focused with a keen eye to deliver quality and sustainability – driving others to do the same. Work with the team to ensure that the right development processes, tools and metrics are in place.
