Job Description


  • Given Visa’s very high priority on B2B and business debit expansion, the role will require manager to drive the quick expansion of business debit products in Japan, and to position Visa as the market leader in this area.

  • The product manager is required to manage multiple portfolio across all business debit issuers as well as exploration of new prospect issuers aggressively.  The role requires a strong client facing individual to closely work with issuers in supporting various areas including, but not limited to, consulting, product designing, product development, marketing planning and portfolio management. 

More specifically,

  • Drive and execute all of business debit expansion strategy, with the Head of Business Solutions for Japan.

  • Provide hands-on supports to individual business debit issuers such as consultation for program optimization, joint planning of marketing activities and analytical consultation as an expert of business debit and B2B solutions.

  • Manage, refine, develop and deliver Visa solutions and platforms such as API or benefit program which will benefit cardholders of Visa business debit products, with the Head of Business Solutions for Japan.    

  • Act as a content adviser and support team member of business solutions and sales team.  Be the conduit between the market and regional/global functions, between consumer debit team and business solutions, to maximize the performance as one Visa team.

  • Manage budget, plan and execute marketing and advertising activities to benefit business debit issuers.

  • Hold seminar/conference and make presentations toward financial institutions with regard to business debit product to enhance issuers’ engagement and to capture new opportunities.

  • Manage pipeline of new opportunities related to business debit and establish tactical plan to accelerate business expansion.

  • Proactively sell B2B solution like Visa Business Pay or establish B2B partnership with third parties to capture new / untapped B2B payments and strengthen value proposition of business debit product.

  • Manage P&L and other KPI and performance of entire business debit portfolio.



  • A proven self-starter who is results driven and takes a disciplined approach to achieve results

  • Strong ability to understand the profiles and endeavors of the wholesale banking side of bank and how Visa can implement frameworks with the commercial issuers drive commercial issuance growth across business segments.

  • An agile mindset and adaptive approach to develop new segments or verticals to capture new wholesale B2B payment or collections flows, applying the right capabilities with the relevant CVP for the relevant segment

  • Identify regulatory and competitive changes in the market to establish timely strategies and countermeasures

  • Team work demonstrated by positive feedback from all internal business partners including Sales team and other functions in Japan and in the Asia Pacific region.  Multi-level stakeholder management skill.

  • Knowledge of trends and developments in IT and e-commerce industry

  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word etc.

  • Keen analytical skills

  • Business level English and Japanese


Additional Note

This role encompasses a product expert contact point for both Visa and Clients and is central to our ongoing operation and longer term success of B2B expansion strategy.  The role is multi-disciplined requiring a broad understanding of all Visa products and services, whilst at the same time strong communication and product consolatory skills.  The objective is always to gain and retain commitment from Clients and stakeholders to support Visa products and services, whilst at the same time being viewed as a partner and product/solution expert, rather than a supplier.  Also, since the business debit product is not so widely recognized in market overall, education and efforts to strengthen the recognition of value proposition within stakeholders are keys for success.  Stakeholders include small business segment, merchants, industries and even issuers and acquirers.  The position requires a general understanding of the majority of Visa activities, from Risk through to Systems, Marketing and Operations.  It requires maturity and a highly professional orientation, underpinned by credibility & integrity.
