Job Description

Visa Global Procurement 
Global Procurement is part of the Finance organization and manages Visa’s end-to-end sourcing and procurement of goods and services. Procurement is responsible for partnering with business owners to lead all strategic sourcing activities globally to ensure optimal selection of suppliers that deliver best value in price and quality, while minimizing risk to Visa.
 

Overview 
Reporting to the Vice President of Global Technology Sourcing, the Senior Director manages a team of Category Leads who support Visa’s Technology organization. This is a management role, with a broad span of responsibility supporting multiple divisions of the Visa Technology organization.  Year-over-year, this person will oversee approximately $200M+ in spend across a number of key suppliers.  The specific focus on this role will be Application Development and Maintenance suppliers, Application Integrators (e.g – system integrators, or “S.I.’s”) and the global Contract Labor program (through a Managed Service Provider (‘MSP’)).  This role will partner closely with key stakeholders within Visa’s Technology, Product, Finance, HR and other organizations, including, but not limited to E/SVP-level leaders globally.  In this role, he/she will provide subject matter expertise, deep market insights and strategic guidance to the business leaders by understanding their strategy, initiatives and plans. This person will be expected to deliver savings of 5-7 percent annually.

This is a leadership role within Visa’s Global Technology Sourcing organization and the responsibilities range from building relationships with Technology executives and working with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to drive strategic decision, to leading the sourcing business partners to deliver savings while balancing the risks and regulatory issues from engaging third parties. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Leadership / Relationship Building

  • This role supports Visa’s Technology Labor Sourcing Strategy and the key stakeholders, both within and outside of Visa IT.
  • Builds strong relationships with business partners to drive Sourcing engagements and increase the influence/role of Sourcing within the various business teams. This person can expect direct visibility to senior executives including, but not limited to, Visa’s CTO, Technology Leadership Team members, product and client executives and more.
  • Manage two direct reports, who sit in Visa’s Austin, TX office, with potential for growth within the team. Set a vision and execution strategy for those team members and the broader function. 
  • Define and direct performance objectives and career path/building opportunities for those associates. 
  • Oversee day-to-day execution of a broad and highly-engaged profile of commercial and contractual engagements.
  • Influence the Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, as well as his/her peers, on best practices, process changes, market inputs, etc.
  • Regularly update executives at all levels of the company on deal status, category reporting, etc. Provide continuous written and verbal updates to the business partners, suppliers and other stakeholders on the status of deal.
  • Takes a global view to ensure that Visa leverages its scale domestically and internationally.

 

Category Expertise

  • Work with Category teams-members and Visa Technology to establish the Supplier / Product Strategy for Technology Labor as a category of spend at Visa.
  • Work with Category teams-members and Visa HR to establish the Supplier / Product Strategy for Contract Labor as a category of spend at Visa.
  • Understand the Visa Technology footprint, the long and short-term strategies and the suppliers within that landscape.
  • Oversees the aligned categories.Understands the supplier impacts and effectively communicate to Sourcing executives and Technology stakeholders to inform risk/reward decision-making.
  • Actively engage in Visa’s expansion of the managed service provider offering to include services procurement of SOW spend for Technology Labor, with an opportunity to grow into other areas of the business.
  • Perform market analysis to support recommendations to the Technology and HR teams.
  • Drives a sustainable pipeline of activity and proactively engages Technology Business Partners to ensure proper runway.
  • An understanding of the regulatory market, as it impacts Visa Technology’s Labor strategy and market approach. 
  • Partner with Legal, Risk, HR and other business partners to establish and enforce appropriate labor policies through changing regulatory environments and various region/country specific requirements.
  • This role will have global reach, high impact and will be responsible for delivery of several key program-level initiatives in 2019 and beyond.  The preferred candidate will have deep subject-matter expertise in technical labor strategies and the delivery of BPO/Managed Service offerings. 

 

Sourcing Capabilities - Commercial & Contract Negotiations

  • Manage escalations.  Support the Procurement and Technology teams to negotiate and drive best-in-class deals for Visa. This role requires a strategic view and the willingness to execute on the day-to-day.
  • Drive multi-vendor strategies to optimize Visa’s leverage and reduce operational risk. Effectively use RFX events to support Visa’s Technology organization.
  • Perform savings tracking and report realized savings on a continuous base.
  • Negotiates contract terms and conditions as a first line of defense, in partnership with Visa Legal.
  • Take part in quarterly reporting, monthly All Staff’s, and ongoing updates to direct reports, peers and leaders around the organization. 

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience as a sourcing and/or procurement professional, preferably with a focus on Technology and Labor supplier relationships.
  • 5+ years of management experience – this role will have two direct reports, with potential to grow. 
  • 5+ years of experience assisting in, or leading, the development and management of category plans or sourcing strategies.
  • Demonstrated exposure to global operating models and nuances for on/offshore engagements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Networking space, including the ability to converse with, and influence, key IT and Procurement executives on supplier strategy, sales models, market/Visa levers, and financial modelling.
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills and an ability to synthesize complex and technical information into clear recommendations on course of action.
  • Demonstrated technology and professional services agreement negotiation experience.
  • Experience managing technology business users, including excellent relationship management skills, both in-person and remotely.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships and influence key vendor account executives.
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative, and ability to operate as a team player.
  • Willingness to offer thought leadership, to think creatively, and to offer new ways to approach old problems.
  • Undergraduate degree required, preferable in business, economics, computer science or engineering related field; graduate degree in business, economics or engineering a plus.
