Job Description and Responsibilities

Visa Direct is an exciting, new payment service that Visa provides to clients (issuers, acquirers, processors, merchants and service providers) to facilitate funds transfers and disbursements to Visa accounts domestically and cross border using push payment technology, i.e. Original Credit Transaction (OCT).  Visa Direct consumer and business applications include person-to-person (P2P) money transfer, marketplace payouts to gig economy participants, funds disbursement (e.g. insurance claims), person to micro-business (P2MB) transfer (e.g. payment for goods and services sold by very small businesses) and more.

Visa is expanding Visa Direct to the South Cone region, which includes Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Bolivia countries. The candidate will report to the Senior Director, LAC Visa Direct Market Development, based in Miami, FL, and be responsible to identify, assess and prioritize target clients, engage with issuers, acquirers, software platforms, service providers, Fintechs etc, and defining product strategy and an end-to-end implementation and operation oversight of Visa Direct in those markets.  This includes ensure country ecosystem readiness, support for designing the architecture of new Visa Direct programs, monitor transactions authorization performance, continuous support for Fast Funds implementation, monitor programs after launch, etc.

The candidate should also come-up with new ideas, non-traditional channels, use cases and build partnerships to grow and scale Visa Direct.

Inherent in Visa Direct team are sporadic and unplanned activities that support the strategic interests of the business.  The person may be tasked with evaluating market disruptions and assist with defining plans to address.  For example, as the competitive and regulatory landscape evolves, we need to stay abreast of changes and map out our own strategy to maintain leadership positions.

This will be a client/partner-facing and broad-reaching leadership role so organizational savvy, interpersonal and negotiation skills are critical as he/she will interface with all areas of Visa (sales, marketing, pricing, legal, risk) and with leaders from some of our largest partners. Visa is looking for an individual that is a thought leader in payments with a proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines.

Responsibilities

•Perform market research to identify and assess partners who can support Visa’s push payments strategy and drive adoption

•Enable Visa Direct commercialization (partner sell through) and Go-to-Market approach

•Lead and manage end-to-end project implementations and operation oversight of Visa Direct in new markets and with new partners/ originators

•Work with business development, merchant sales and core products teams to develop deal structure (incentives, pricing, terms, and execution)

•Engage with clients and potential partners to share information about Visa Direct, assess their fit as a partner, develop use cases and business solutions

•Work with cross-functional teams within Visa to do internal alignment and get buy-in (Other Visa Direct team members, business development, merchant sales & acquirer, core products, marketing, client services, technology, risk, government relations, etc.)

•Deliver ad hoc analysis as needed to support Visa Direct team as a whole

•Continuously monitor the market landscape for competitors, trends and regulations that may have an impact on Visa Direct.

Qualifications

Required:

•BA/BS required. Post Graduate degree in Business Administration strongly preferred

•Minimum 12 years of experience with payments/operations analytics, or equivalent

•Excellent communication, story-telling and presentation skills necessary in Spanish and English

•Expert level PowerPoint and advanced level excel skills required

•Communication skills are critical in this role both written and oral.  The role will require extensive collaboration with multiple teams

•Critical thinker, strong organization skills, ability to summarize findings from data, curiosity to deep dive on root cause of trends

•Ability to identify key strategic issues and to generate and deliver creative and innovative solutions to problems and opportunities

•Detailed oriented, is expected to ensure highest level of quality/rigor in market analysis

•Strong team player, self-motivated and the ability to work independently at coordinating cross functional activities, obtain buy-in and elevate issues at critical junctures appropriately

•Curiosity about financial/payment industry and a desire to roll up your sleeves to help take open-ended and ambiguous areas of interest and help to bring clarity to the team

•Travel to client location may be required up to 25% of the time.

Preferred:

•Good understanding of the banking and payments landscape in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Bolivia

•Knowledge of Visa, financial/payment industry, Fintech as well as P2P and funds disbursements market experience

•A good network of technology service suppliers around those countries

•Close affinity with scheme based payments

•Experience in working with API and ISO standard financials services systems.
