Visa Consulting and Analytics team is looking for an individual to join our data science team and play a role developing high impact projects and data products for Visa. The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to address key strategic needs for Visa’s clients including issuers, acquirers and merchants. They must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations. They must have a proven ability to drive business results with their data based insights. Adept at creative and critical thinking, they are able to deconstruct problems and transform insights into large scale, state-of-the-art solutions.

This role doesn't involve people management.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute data science projects from conception to completion.

• Lead other tasks on R&D, data governance, system infrastructure, analytics tool evaluation

• Help us staying at the forefront of technical advancement in data science and introducing cutting edge tools and techniques for generating business insights

• Provide thought leadership in analytic techniques and business applications to unlock the value of Visa’s unique dataset

• Find opportunities to create and automate repeatable analyses or build streamlined solutions for internal and external Visa clients

• Continuously develop and present innovative ideas based on data driven approach in order to improve current business practices within Visa

• Coach and educate other team members on data analysis techniques and Visa processes

• Constantly improve Visa external image as data driven innovative by participation in and organization of external workshops and meet-ups

• Vendor onboarding and resource management

• When team expands, will get a chance to lead a couple of junior analysts to manage BAU deliverables

• Drive and lead function development strategy together with Data Science function Head

• Back-up for Data Science Head in Russia

Professional

• MS in engineering, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics or other related fields

• At least 5 years of experience in Banking, Retailers or payment system.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience of relevant hands-on experience in data, analytics, and statistics

• Extensive experience applying analytics and creating innovative solutions to solve business problems

• Extensive experience in presenting ideas and analysis to various audience levels

• Good business acumen to orient data analysis to business needs of clients

• Strong written, verbal, and graphical communication skills.

• Ability to clearly communicate the meaning of analytical concepts, analyses and results

• Ability to execute multiple projects and tasks with competing priorities while meeting required deadlines.

• Excellent spoken and written English, fluent Russian.

Technical Skills

• Hands on experience with data analytics/programming tools  -  SAS/Hive/R/SQL/Python

• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, clustering, decision tree, Gradient Boosting, Random forests, Support Vector Machine, Deep learning, etc.) and proven experience with applications.

• Understanding of algorithms and ability to optimize various program complexities using suitable data structures.

• Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and able to meet deadlines.

• Experience designing and building new data products

• Advanced PowerPoint presentation skills
