Visa Direct is an exciting, new payment service that Visa provides to clients (issuers, acquirers, processors, merchants and service providers) to facilitate funds transfers and disbursements to Visa accounts in the U.S. and around the world using push payment technology, i.e. Original Credit Transaction (OCT). Visa Direct consumer and business applications include person to person (P2P) money transfer, person to micro-business (P2MB) transfer (e.g. payment for goods and services sold by very small businesses), marketplace payouts to gig economy participants, funds disbursement (e.g. insurance claims), and more.
Global Alternate Distribution team is a new team within Visa Direct focused on expanding Visa Direct through alternate channels such as software platforms, service providers, Fintechs etc. We do market research, identify target clients and drive end-to-end implementation of Visa Direct. We engage with strategically important global platform and software service providers that are critical to the success of Visa Direct across regions. The team is responsible to come-up with the new ideas, use cases and build partnerships to grow and scale Visa Direct.
The person will be a key member of the team defining product strategy to expand Visa Direct through non-traditional channels. The role will primarily support one of the key strategic initiatives within Visa Direct - Expand Visa Direct adoption through new channels – by doing Market Research, Business Development, Client Engagement and Product Strategy & Management
In addition to supporting this strategic initiative, the Product manager will also be responsible for developing and leading a process to engage with and assess potential partners for Visa Direct.
Inherent in this team are sporadic and unplanned activities that support the strategic interests of the business. The Product Manager may be tasked with evaluating market disruptions and assist with defining plans to address. For example, as the competitive landscape evolves, we need to stay abreast of changes and map out our own strategy to maintain leadership positions.
This will be a client/partner-facing and broad-reaching leadership role so organizational savvy, interpersonal and negotiation skills are critical as he/she will interface with all areas of Visa (sales, marketing, pricing, legal, risk) and with leaders from some of our largest partners. Visa is looking for an individual that is a thought leader in payments with a proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines.
Perform market research to identify and assess partners who can support Visa’s push payments strategy and drive adoption
Use Visa internal/client data to assess client potential and opportunity. Work with sales team to develop deal economics
Engage with clients to develop use cases and business solutions
Develop process to evaluate potential partners for Visa Direct (not limited to Extend Reach)
Meet with potential partners to share information about Visa Direct and assess their fit as a partner
Work with cross-functional teams within Visa to do internal alignment and get buy-in
Manage end-to-end project to implement Visa Direct for new partners
Deliver ad hoc analysis as needed to support the needs of the Global Alternate Distribution team as a whole
Scan market for competitive players or others
- BA/BS required. Post Graduate degree in Business Administration strongly preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience with payments/operations analytics, or equivalent
- Excellent communication, story-telling and presentation skills
Expert level PowerPoint and advanced level excel skills required.
- Critical thinker, strong organization skills, ability to summarize findings from data, curiosity to deep dive on root cause of trends
- Ability to identify key strategic issues and to generate and deliver creative and innovative solutions to problems and opportunities
- Detailed oriented, is expected to ensure highest level of quality/rigor in market analysis
- Strong team player, self-motivated and the ability to work independently at coordinating cross functional activities, obtain buy-in and elevate issues at critical junctures appropriately
Travel to client location may be required
Knowledge of payments, Fintech, etc. is not required for this role, however it is essential to bring curiosity about these topics and a desire to roll up your sleeves to help take open-ended and ambiguous areas of interest and help to bring clarity to the team.
Communication skills are critical in this role both written and oral. The role will require extensive collaboration with multiple teams.
