Job Description

The Director, Sponsorship Marketing will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of Sponsorship marketing strategies to deliver against Visa’s business objectives.  There are 4 core responsibilities within this role: (1) Manage relationship with all local sponsorship properties (2) Lead marketing campaigns tied to sponsorship including planning, development and execution, (3) Represent Canada on Visa’s global sponsorship team (4) Support Visa client partnerships by providing strategic and tactical marketing support that leverages Visa’s sponsorship properties.  As part of the Canada Marketing team, the Director will report to the Senior Director, Consumer Credit and Sponsorships.

This position requires a results-oriented, highly-motivated, hands-on leader who can thrive in a matrixed environment.  The role will interface with properties, agencies, global counterparts, clients and internal Visa teams so a strong team orientation and excellent interpersonal skills are critical.  The ideal candidate will have sponsorship experience, have a thorough knowledge of both traditional and digital marketing, and have experience managing agencies.

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of marketing programs related to sponsorship properties including TIFF, Olympics, and FIFA, to advance the Visa business in Canada

  • Manage agency partners to execute integrated marketing programs and communications

  • Own the sponsorship budget and lead cross-channel implementation of marketing initiatives in support of sponsorship priorities

  • Manage the measurement, analysis and reporting of marketing program performance and its impact on business results and Visa brand health

  • Support marketing planning processes in collaboration with Canada Marketing Planning and Strategy lead, Finance and agency partners

  • Manage relationships with local sponsorship properties, ensuring execution against all contractual benefits. 

  • Represent Canada as part of the Visa global sponsorship team, influencing global’s strategy and working with them to positively impact the Canadian market

  • Support Visa client partnerships by providing strategic and tactical marketing support that leverages Visa sponsorships

  • Contribute to a go beyond team & lead Manager, Sponsorships through demonstration of Leadership Principles

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required / MBA is preferred

  • Strong strategic marketing background with at least 7-10 years of experience delivering measurable business results

  • Experience in leading development of multi-channel marketing programs

  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor applied to a wide variety of marketing problems

  • Previous experience working in financial services or working with financial institutions and  management/marketing consulting or agency experience a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex organization with multiple stakeholders to deliver accurate and on-time project deliverables

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility with cross functional stakeholders without direct authority

  • Experience delivering brand building campaigns across both traditional and digital marketing channels

  • Experience working within the sponsorship landscape in Canada an added asset

  • Advanced level of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint required
