What’s it all about?

The Sr. Program Manager plays a critical role in enabling Visa Europe’s debit issuer processing efforts.  Reporting to the Sr. Director for Debit Issuer Processing, the Sr. Program Manager, will drive the Product, Development, Implementation, Call Center, and Account teams and is expected to contribute to the successful development, implementation and contribute and support of product functionality. The position will be based in Frankfurt, Germany, but will require close collaboration with our US based team

This position will be responsible and accountable for coordinating activities and communicating the status of projects related to new products, features and services that drive client satisfaction, differentiating the Visa debit issuer processing product offering, and driving Visa issuer processing revenues.

 

What we expect of you, day to day.

  • Responsible for multiple and complex project delivery ensuring all cross functional area’s requirements and responsibilities are captured and delivered successfully to meet Program goals
  • Manage teams’ annual development project budget and monthly budget reporting, including ensuring project budget request documentation is completed, tracked and submitted on time.  Forecast budget challenges and opportunities within budget.
  • Manage prioritization and tracking of Product roadmap against internal service levels to maximize budget and meet client commitments and program goals.  Act as Product partner to maximize deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain complex project plans, including identifying detailed scope, schedule, assumptions, trade-offs, risks, financial impact, and investment opportunity. Ability to delegate project tasks and monitor multiple sub-projects assignments.  Manages large, complex cross functional, cross product domain projects to successful completion, on time and in budget.  
  • Coordinate / Interface regularly with Technical Project Managers responsible for Software Development and Quality Assurance.  Can lead and influence groups that don’t typically support Visa issuer processing initiatives
  • Coordinate / Interface regularly with cross functional Business partners (Account Management, Implementations, Certification, Documentation, etc)  
  • Schedule and facilitate project and program review meetings in order to insure all parties are aware of and are delivering on specified tasks
  • Consistently provides autonomous delivery of projects.  Regularly provides mentoring and support to less experienced team members. 
  • Track and provide regular updates regarding status on all projects in the product management pipeline
  • Create and distribute detailed executive summaries for projects currently in the product management pipeline as needed
  • Manage beta process to ensure broad roll out of new functionality
  • Expected to operate as a subject matter expert.   Have the ability to ask questions to figure out road blocks early and understand how the systems integrate.
  • Regularly lead service improvement meetings with cross functional teams
  • Autonomously capable of delivering projects in one or more product domains.
  • Decisions consistent with established goals and objectives.  Will provide and seek guidance to others and is considered a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one product/service.  Provides leadership to others.
  • Influences decisions being made that impact product, process or service improvements.
  • Identifies, owns and drives collaboration and roll-out of new processes and improvement to existing processes.
  • Recognize and recommend improvements for how Issuer Processing delivers products and services to our customers.     
  • Ensures deliverables are in alignment with corporate and department goals. 
  • Generates highly innovative ideas, solutions, and opportunities that challenge status quo thinking and assumptions
  • Works on extremely complex problems where initiative and independent judgment is mandatory to search out solutions within context of broad goals and long term objectives.

Qualifications

What we’re after…

  • Degree or equivalent work experience is required
  • High level of project management experience while managing complex projects with total budgets of $5M+
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented
  • Skilled at influencing without direct authority to achieve necessary goals. 
  •  Ability to communicate to the executive level and understand when to engage senior leaders. English language expertise required - additional proficiency in German preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills; demonstrated effective listening and questioning skills and is comfortable dealing with all levels internally and externally.  Very comfortable receiving and giving feedback in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to work creatively with strong problem solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and demands independently
  • Skilled working in Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
  • Advanced skills in MS Office suite
  • PMP strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of industry and the card payments business is required
  • Is expected to learn from past mistakes with the ability to identify and mitigate. Does not rely on the review process to catch errors.  Will actively seek out answers to prevent problems.  Challenges requirements, and/or solutions to ensure most efficient design
  • Demonstrate expertise/ experience in more than one product / service area as acquired through several years’ experience, or formal training.
  • Recognized project management expert within Issuer Processing. Growing exposure within other Visa areas
