Project Coordinator/Associate Economist

Job Scope

The project coordinator will contribute to the mission of VBEI by providing data analysis, presentation and administrative support for the team. This position is at an emerging professional level and solves a range of problems and analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. This position receives a moderate level of guidance and supervision. The scope of work is project focused including project origination and coordination of economic and related topics (70%) along with administrative support to the department head (30%).

Responsibilities

·         Support senior members of the Visa Business and Economic Insights department on projects relating to the economy and the payments industry

·         Provide administrative support to the Chief Economist including scheduling meetings, travel and managing expenses

·         Create innovative visualizations that communicate economic and industry performance using existing sources of data (economic data such as retail sales, and unemployment)

·         Prepare and maintain department economic presentations

·         Create advanced PowerPoint presentations and other publications to support the group

·         Identify additional sources of data that would aid in analyses

·         Maintain and update databases of key payment industry and economic measures

·         Responsible for the preparation of executive insights

·         Produce/validate/distribute executive briefing materials

·         Review/edit/modify department documents to ensure consistency

·         Administer key department functions (approximately 30% of time)

·         Manage department global budget, purchase orders, invoices, and vendor relationships

·         Book/manage staff training events (in person, Webex)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT :

This position requires the incumbent may travel for work up to 5% of the time.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 6 months of work experience or a Bachelor's Degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·         Bachelors degree in economics required for solid foundation of economic fundamentals and relationships; equivalent professional experience (3-5 years) will be considered

·         Two years economic business experience preferred, but not required.

·         Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor

·         Ability to understand and translate macroeconomic events and trends to the payments industry

·         Ability to identify and build the required fact base to support project work, including leveraging a wide variety of internal and external sources 

·         A professional demeanor, effective phone manner and strong oral and written communications skills are critical

·         Eagerness to work in joint teams with personnel of all levels to accomplish project objectives

·         Customer service focused and ability to work collaboratively with others

·         Ability to multi-task and prioritize work with a strong attention to detail

·         Must be proactive & solution oriented, looking for ways to add value and assist the team

·         Ability to coordinate internal and external resources

·         Highly proficient on all Microsoft products including Excel, Word, and Outlook

·         Advanced level PowerPoint skills required

·         Commitment to continuous learning

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
