VISA's Distributed Architecture & Engineering strategy is to collaborate with our Product development teams, and other teams within Operations & Infrastructure team on engineering, building and maintaining the most innovative, reliable, secure and cost-effective distributed solutions to meet VISA customers’ growing needs.  

This Lead Portfolio Manager will be responsible for defining and building a consistent portfolio management strategy and establish technical portfolio methodology across all distributed systems and infrastructure management solutions; Collaborating with Chief systems architects and engineering managers to define/articulate/advocate product/program roadmaps and formulate executable strategies to drive technology advances, automation and resource optimization. As a Portfolio Manager, with the unique vantage point to work at intersection of Infrastructure, software engineering, strategic planning and communication, acting as the catalyst and proponent of adoption of open-source & open technologies and building container based cloud infrastructure & its management ecosystem, you'll play a critical role in driving cross-function collaboration of Visa's Compute, Network, Storage, Cloud and Automation teams to deliver programmable and vendor-neutral Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS) that transforms virtualization from an efficiency to a whole new paradigm. Prior program/portfolio management experience with ecosystems(monitoring, configuration/compliance management, orchestration, logging) managing virtualization, Cloud, Containers and deployment of infrastructure for large enterprises is also required. This position will report to the Vice President of Distributed Systems Architecture and Engineering.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12+  years of experience in Program/Portfolio management roles in an agile environment.
  • Proven record of qualifying technology roadmaps, illustrating & defining technology strategies and driving adoption across a large enterprise, acting as an infrastructure evangelist
  • Strong knowledge of Technology Portfolio Management methodologies/techniques including Agile/Scrum, Scaled Agile, Waterfall, Lean, Kanban
  • Certifications (at least one Preferred): PMP, CSM, Agile Certifications
  • Very good understanding and experience in Cloud technologies, demonstrate knowledge of virtualization (VMware, HyperV or RHV), Containerization, cluster management solutions
  • Knowledge and understanding across a wide range of technology domains and application frameworks and have ability to quickly grasp relationships of various disciplines
  • Experience of working closely with product/business teams to define/prioritize requirements, roll out features
  • Decisive but inclusive decision making in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with no supervision
  • Ability to flex between the strategic and the tactical, a high level of energy and flexibility to get things done and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented engineering environment
  • Be able to hold technical and whiteboard discussions with Architects, Engineers, support by understanding complex high scalable architecture and technology stacks for security, compliance, monitoring, performance management, logging, DR/BRP, security assessment needs and document the main findings/conclusions, gaps and action items, along with technical acumen to capture, communicate and drive issues/blockers/risks to resolution
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively to organizational-wide audiences via multiple channels

 

Additional Information

Essential Functions

  • Establish the technical portfolio management practice, ensure DSAE’s programs and initiatives are planned, managed, and governed in a consistent, transparent, disciplined and measured manner
  • oversee the processes that govern the management of the portfolio, working with key stakeholders to ensure the smooth planning and execution of all programs and initiatives
  • Collaborate with leaders of architecture and engineering to define & articulate the technology roadmaps for distributed systems and infrastructure management
  • Be the gatekeeper for the definition of implementable strategies for the disciplines of compute, disintegrated servers, operating systems, hypervisors, containerization and management solutions for monitoring, configuration management, orchestration, logging.
  • Regularly report progress and key product metrics to stakeholders and management, establish KPIs to measure portfolio programs & initiatives
  • Facilitate collective communications across the global team related to all planning, delivery and continually works to improve processes related to the portfolio
  • Be the agent of technology transformation, establish and maintain best practices for learning, building support capability of new technologies and improving knowledge base, drive consistent implementation across all technology lanes
  • Passionate towards consistency and standardization when it comes to documentation and presentations
  • Lead new program and initiatives to formalize scope, roadmaps, and secure funding.  A significant amount of coordination and collaboration across product/business, technology, and support organizations is required.
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives across GSAE.  Including initial definition, roll out, and tracking efficiency/effectiveness gains.
  • Technical acumen to capture, communicate and drive issues/blockers/risks to resolution
  • Develop, and implement improvements with clear efficiency gains
  • Provide highly reliable infrastructure solutions that are extremely secure enabling Operations to manage environments simply and effectively
  • Evangelize DSAE portfolio standard offerings and capabilities, gain insights of the workflows of Product Development, Engineering and Operations teams, ensure relevance and drive adoption
  • Establish well-informed guidance regarding the application of the container platform and other supporting technologies to help Visa's successful deployment of private cloud and make in-road at hybrid cloud while maintaining security control and compliance
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to the Engineering and Operations team during/after deploying a new tool/platform, drive adoption, build supporting capability at all levels. Maintain a common documentation library of standardized procedures and configurations
  • Collaborate with business, PD teams, Reliability and operations team, to ensure on time, on budget, and quality delivery of technical solutions as part of technology portfolio

  • This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 5% of the time.
