Job Description

Visa is looking for a seasoned engineering leader to lead the Mediation team in Austin. Your team is responsible for pricing solutions that enable Visa go-to-market initiatives, such as new market entry, launch of products and services, new pricing & revenue schemes, and regulations. This is a cutting edge engineering team solving challenging business problems. It builds platforms maintaining complex pricing rules and processing billions of messages daily for pricing, billing and revenue purposes. The team is in the middle of transforming Visa pricing infrastructure to accelerate speed to market, enable more flexibility and ease maintenance.

Essential Functions

  • Provide leadership to operate and enhance the current Mediation platforms. Partner with project management and business partner organizations to continue enhance the capability and flexibility of the platform.

  • Lead analysis, development, migration and operation of the next generation platforms.

  • Be accountable for tactical day to day delivery and operational decisions involving Mediation platforms.

  • Recruit, manage, develop, and mentor a team of developers, test engineers, product managers and system analysts. Evaluate performance of team members, identifying and developing high potential for future promotion. Direct, influence and coach others to ensure effective execution and achievement of operational plans and goals.

  • Develop budgetary forecasts and administer actual operating expenses within cost center. Drive deliverables on time and on budget.

  • Work closely with the leaders of peer Billing and Incentives teams; and interact with a wide variety of senior and executive level management across the enterprise on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.

  • Align with Enterprise Architects on data and system strategies; Establish roadmap and ensure program delivery is consistent with end-state architecture.

  • Ensure that support and development activities comply with corporate policies and adhere to industry best practices. Evaluate and ensure that current procedures and practices are appropriate for accomplishing department objectives, and that supporting regulatory requirements are adequately documented and operating within policy.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12-15 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • Proven high-impact player with a successful track record of execution and driving change in a collaborative and thoughtful manner

  • Significant experience leading across large-scale, geographically distributed technology organizations in a highly matrixed environment

  • Known for building and fostering strong relationships with business partners

  • Bachelor's Degree with minimal 12 years of proven IT/development experience or

  • 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or

  • 6+ years of work experience with a PhD

  • Prefer minimum of 5 years of experience in financial services business, optimally with experience in payment processing, billing and collection applications

  • Proven delivery leadership in a complex organization including systems rationalization and consolidation experience to optimize performance and drive down systems costs.

  • Proven ability in delivering large scale global projects; on time and within budget.

  • Strong experience in managing technical application development, using Java, Hadoop, database or ETL technologies. Experience in rules engine a plus.

General business skills including budget administration, planning, negotiation skills, and project management

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
