Job Description

The Risk Manager will provide primary support for Visa’s North America Credit Settlement Risk Team (CSR).  Leveraging our extensive expertise in financial, credit and risk analytics, CSR ensures that credit settlement exposure to our clients is managed within the company’s risk appetite.  The Manager will have the opportunity to participate in the broader scope of global credit risk management practices by collaborating closely with various key internal and external stakeholders that participate in the Visa payment system.     

The Foster City based position will report directly to the Senior Director, North America & Global Policy Credit Settlement Risk.  The role will also have the opportunity to lead specific projects and to be exposed to credit risk management practices by being involved in regular risk review exercises.   

Role & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide primary credit support to the CSR team and include industry market research, monitoring client credit exposure and managing the associated collateral process.  Key responsibilities include:  

·       Monitor risk exposures to ensure that any material uncovered risk exposures are suitably addressed

·       Manage collateral and risk mitigation function to ensure collateral is received timely and placed in the appropriate safekeeping accounts for NA clients

·       Collaborate with NA’s credit team to manage macro factors that impact fundamental credit quality at both the client and industry level.

·       Proactively support internal shareholders to successfully manage client failures for NA clients

·       Identify opportunities to improve credit risk processes and procedures while taking the initiative to lead and drive change that results in measurable and sustained improvement in cost and/or quality

·        Work closely with various key stakeholders both internal (other Risk teams, Treasury, Legal, etc.,) and external (system vendors, clients, etc.) that regularly interact with CSR.     

Qualifications

The successful candidate should be both a self-starter and a quick learner, able to work with minimal guidance and will have:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent skills and experience in related field   
  • 4 years of relevant experience in an exposure management, data management or client facing roles
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent skills and experience in related field   
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in an exposure management, data management or client facing roles
  • Interpersonal skills including but not limited to team building, maintaining a significant level of trust and diplomacy, and fostering internal and external business relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills which support effective communication of information to internal and external stakeholders 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to synthesize information and make clear, concise conclusions
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel 
  • Payment systems or capital markets activities (Counterparty or Fixed Income) background desired, but not required
