Job Description

The Visa Business Solutions (VBS) team is a world-class commercial organization experiencing tremendous, double-digit growth as we expand into new payment flows and continue to grow our core card solutions. This is an incredibly exciting team to join our team as we expand globally. Our team brings payment solutions and associated services to clients around the globe.  Our global clients and partners deploy our solutions to serve the needs of Small Businesses, Middle Market Clients, Large Corporate Clients, Multi Nationals and Governments.  We work closely with Issuers, Merchants, FinTechs and other ecosystem players to deliver these services.  We believe that the market is at an inflection point whereby Visa can play a larger role in building and delivering solutions around the world.  Our focus within Business Solutions is to identify needs, assess opportunities and options and quickly act upon our vision while ensuring strong execution.

 The Vice President, US Small Business, is responsible for the ideation, development, delivery and ongoing client management and enablement of products and services in the US Small Business sector.   Small Business payments are among the fastest growing payment sectors, and you will lead, identify and deliver against future client and customer needs, sharing best practices and evolving the strategy and roadmap for small businesses.  You will be a senior leader on the Global Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Management Team within Visa Business Solutions, developing a network of key stakeholder touchpoints including across the US Client, Visa Consulting and Analytics, Partnerships, Finance and Merchant Teams.

Responsibilities:    

  •  Act as a thought leader of Visa Business Products and the small business marketplace including the competitive space, existing and emerging competitors.  As you build a thorough knowledge of the SME business and landscape, you will develop and own product expertise in SME and act as a subject matter expert to external and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent Visa and the SME team in various industry conferences, public settings, and formal speaking engagements to drive advocacy efforts. 
  • Ownership of the SME US P&L in excess of $400B in Purchase Volume, through exceptional management of budget, Payment Volume and market share.
  • Manage a team of subject matter experts that consult with Visa clients on growing the Small Business segment as measured by payment volume, revenue, and market-share.  This will require leadership and management of resources in a cross-functional environment and refined strategies to compliment the efforts of a variety of market participants, including financial institutions (FI's) issuing small business credit and debit cards (bank-branded and co-brand) as well as merchants, acquirers and third party processors. 
  • Execute short and long-term business planning, including the ongoing design and implementation of product enhancements supported by the Global Product and Platform organizations as well as other Visa Teams.
  • Solve for clients’ and small businesses’ needs, develop a strategic SME US product road map, and manage a cross functional team to execute.  This includes product development, implementation, and marketing, to bring products and services to market.
  • Build strong relationships with Senior Visa executives and issuing clients and be able to influence and drive decisions at the executive level.  Direct and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Analytics, Global Technology, Global Information Security and Finance, to deliver product, platform, and analytic capabilities.
  • Collaborate with VISA small business colleagues throughout the world to deliver similar products and services, as well as a consistency of brand messaging.
  • Ensure compliance with products, brand and risk management standards.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years’ experience in product management and/or launching new products within a financial technology or related company targeting small businesses.
  • Exceptional leadership, influencing skills and business acumen – thinks strategically to influence and drive tactical execution and prioritization.
  • Seasoned leader with extensive industry and functional expertise, including product management, software development, contract negotiations, marketing and sales.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to effectively work cross-organizationally and regionally
  • Ability to drive decisions and resolve conflicting situations. Strong analytical skills and ability to execute on plans.
  • Proven track record of success and P&L Management.
  • Creativity and resourcefulness to overcome unexpected roadblocks
  • Small Business segment experience preferred
  •  University degree required, MBA would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the SME segment with emphasis on financial management
  • The ability to translate analytics, research, client/consumer needs into actionable plans and deliverables.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence key stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally to Visa and be an Ambassador for SME.
  • An ability to challenge preconceived attitudes and behaviors and shape future thinking.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and create project teams to assist in execution and implementation of new products or services (Marketing, Sales, Operation, internal/external stakeholders)
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required

Work Hours:

  • Incumbent must make themselves available to speak with partners in various international time zones
  • Position can be based in Foster City-travel requirements will vary depending on where the incumbent is based.

Physical requirements:

  • This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds
