The Team

Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA) is Visa's consulting and data science division, serving Visa's clients (including card issuers, acquirers and merchants) and solving their strategic problems focused on improving performance and profitability.

The VCA India and South Asia team sits within the VCA Asia Pacific regional team and provides a comprehensive range of consulting and analytics solutions that address unique challenges across four key practice areas:  strategic growth, profit improvement, risk management and digital strategy.

 Job Description

In this role, you will report to the Head of Data Science- India and South Asia, working with an amazing team of experts driving business transformation with advanced data solutions with a strong focus on India and South Asia.  

As a Data Science Director for India and South Asia, you will work with leaders across the region to drive a team of analysts to analyze and interpret data, develop metrics to measure results, design and build predictive models to guide business operations and integrate new methodologies into existing systems.

You will work on monetizing Visa’s rich data and products with our partners on all fronts – Issuers, Acquirers and Merchants.

You will work with senior colleagues across the organization -  Product Managers, Business Development, and Marketing to put data at the core of Visa's value proposition and driving innovation.

Responsibilities

  • End to end delivery of data science projects for India and South Asia for issuers, acquirers and merchants

  • Part ownership of revenue targets for Visa Consulting and Analytics for India and South Asia

  • Drive data engineering and technology efforts for Visa Consulting and Data Science, responsible for architecting and delivering data assets and technology solutions that enhance the effectiveness of Data Science.

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for both product development and sales activity

  • Provide thought leadership in both using data to solve business problems and arriving at innovative statistical solutions

  • Interact cross-functionally with a wide variety of people and teams. Work closely with global peers to identify opportunities for, design, and assess improvements to Visa’s products

  • Interact with Issuers, Acquirers and Merchants to understand their business problems, propose solutions using data driven analysis, collaborate closely and deliver the solutions as per agreed scope.

  • Make effective presentations of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders (e.g. cost-benefit, forecasting, and experiment analysis) with business recommendations using quantitative information

  • Research and develop analysis, forecasting, and optimization methods to improve the quality of Visa's products

  • Apply advanced analytic skills to analyze VisaNet’s transaction data through building descriptive / predictive models, generating business insights and providing recommendations to drive business results

  • Continually challenge our assumptions and innovate on new sources of data, tools, talent and potential partners to identify growth opportunities for Visa and our clients

Qualifications

 

  • Undergraduate and Postgraduate  degrees in a quantitative discipline (e.g. statistics, applied mathematics, engineering, economics, operations research or similar, as well as MBA) or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum 12 years of relevant work experience (i.e., data scientist role), including deep expertise and experience with statistical data analysis such as linear models, multivariate analysis, stochastic models, AI, Deep Learning, Machine Learning algorithms

  • Experience with statistical software (R, SAS or similar).

  • Experience with databases and scripting languages (such as Hadoop and Python).

  • Ability to draw conclusions from data and recommend actions.

  • Demonstrated leadership and self-direction. Demonstrated willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques.

  • Client facing experience with strong communication skills
