Job Description

Visa seeks a Tax Director to join its Asia Pacific (AP) Tax team in Singapore.  This newly-created position will be a key strategic adviser to the business, including providing tax analysis and deal structuring, as well as be the AP region lead fortax risk management, process improvement initiatives and US GAAP tax reporting.

The role will report to the Vice President, Head of Tax – AP and partner closely with various Global Tax, Finance, Treasury, Legal, HR and Business teams to manage the effective tax rate and cash taxes for the region. 

Responsibilities
• Engage directly with business partners, cross functional teams as well as external advisers to provide excellent real time tax analysis and deal structuring advice during the negotiation of major client and vendor contracts
• Lead and implement key regional projects and initiatives from a tax viewpoint, including but not limited to business restructuring and IT system related projects
• Assist in the monitoring and negotiation of tax incentives, including liaising with government agencies 
• Oversee corporate, transactional and indirect tax compliance activities in the region, including incentive filings to ensure all legal and regulatory obligations are met
• Manage relationships and engagement with Visa’s tax agents for the AP region to ensure the services provided are completed within the scope of our agreements
• Lead quarterly and other periodic US GAAP tax forecasting, provisioning, effective tax rate analysis and other reporting for the AP region, through close collaboration with AP financial planning & analysis, AP Controllership, AP Tax, and Global Tax teams.  Ensure all material tax positions taken are aligned, executed and well documented 
• Drive tax process improvement initiatives that fulfills tax compliance obligations efficiently and effectively through streamlining of existing processes or through automation
• Lead selected tax audit controversy matters
• Proactively monitor and analyze newly enacted tax legislation in Singapore and advise management on tax changes that will impact the business
• Follow tax digitalization trends and tax policy changes
• Provide tax training to Finance or the business
• Manage AP tax cost center budgets

Qualifications

• Min 10-12 years of experience gained in a Big 4 and/or multinational in-house tax environment
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Accounting, Tax or Finance required; CPA or Masters/Diploma of Taxation preferred
• Direct International tax expertise in multiple AP countries required; Indirect tax expertise preferred
• Tax provision experience and understanding of tax accounting concepts
• Experience with financial/accounting systems, tax operations and ability to drive process improvements
• Experience in directly dealing with tax authorities and government agencies
