Job Description

The Treasury team at Visa has operations located around the globe that support critical functions for the business including the daily settlement of all Visa transactions globally. The Treasury department is also responsible for the management of corporate cash and investment portfolios, foreign exchange exposure and rate setting, capital and debt strategy, liquidity management, and insurance programs worldwide.

The Senior Treasury Analyst will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, primarily focused on the support of new and existing client banking onboarding activities within the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region for all settlement services along with operational support for bank account management services.   Other responsibilities include management of projects related to improving Treasury Settlement Services and processes.   The candidate should possess a background in treasury and back office operations support functions and have experience in both leading, and contributing to, change management projects with geographically diverse teams. The candidate should enjoy solving challenging problems affecting settlement in a critical, time sensitive environment. The Senior Treasury Analyst will be responsible for the review and validation of funds transfer data, receipt and management of related documentation and liaising with Client Services personnel, representing Treasury, to guide them and our clients on how best to complete their standard settlement instructions. The candidate will ensure that funds transfer details are set up in line with Visa core rules and policies, in keeping with audit and key controls and which ultimately support the timely implementation of client’s products and services. The candidate will be part of a small team with wide-ranging responsibilities that will continue to evolve.  As such, the candidate must be flexible and be willing to adapt to changes in responsibilities and to assist with tasks.   Over time, the team will continue to broaden its responsibilities and the candidate will be expected to develop and adapt to these as required.

Essential Functions:

Day to Day Tasks (as required): 

  • Manage complex set-up of new and modified funds transfer arrangements within agreed service levels, ensuring accuracy, with the ability to keep all stakeholders informed of progress and prioritize own work.
  • Pro-actively liaise with external parties to support the safe execution of funds transfers.
  • Prepare and maintain tracking logs of issues and/or other daily-related work, identifying and assigning action items. 
  • Support bank account management across the LAC region with best practices and procedures.
  • Provide support for critical production processes and manage issues as they arise.
  • Demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency in responding to settlement production questions or incidents, including urgent need to respond to all aspects of outstanding payments. (e.g., account closures, sanctions, mandates, etc.).
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for best practices and improvements to any aspect of the operational processes supporting Treasury.
  • Exhibit the ability to collaborate, establish and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams, clients, settlement banks or agents, other service providers across different cultures.  
  • Establish credibility with stakeholders and navigate often complex or ambiguous subjects with ease and diplomacy.

Project and Technical Work

  • Focus on continuous improvement by participating in and support strategic change management projects for the Treasury Settlement area.
  • Participate in efforts to document processes, policies, operating procedures, system guides, forms and other documentation as needed.
  • Maintain changes to settlement arrangement guides, publications and related client settlement information, informing relevant parties of changes and updates.
  • Provide training session to internal organizations regarding the subject of cross-border & domestic settlement arrangements, as required.
  • Review and analyze data as it relates to mandates and changes from settlement banks and internal processes.
  • Ability to extract data and report on key settlement activities.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD degree
  • Banking or payment services experience, knowledgeable of how banking regulations and sanctions relate to the role.
  • Ability to conduct business in Spanish and English required. Portuguese a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Finance or Operations role, preferably in the Banking or Payments industry.
  • Ability to lead change management projects as relates to both establishing new operational processes as well as technology and operational changes incorporating impact on existing operations
  • Experience in prioritizing, planning and completing work within tight time constraints; may include work outside of normal business hours to work through a critical production situation.  
  • Ability to evaluate challenges and escalate critical issues or roadblocks in projects and to identify and recommend solutions in order to progress work.
  • Consultative skills with the ability to effectively communicate and present complex subjects in a simplified and engaging manner to all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and respond to urgent issues and a willingness to help with additional duties as it relates to the department. Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Pro-active approach to identifying and recommending changes to improve efficiencies for clients as well as internal teams.
  • Collaborative and able to influence without direct authority.  Proven ability to engage with internal cross-functional teams, external clients and banks across global time zones and all cultures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify risks in a complex operations environment
  • Knowledge of SWIFT and in country payment systems with exposure to foreign exchange products and services is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various banking formats (EDI/ISO20022/SWIFT MT Fin/FedWire) is a plus.
  • Good comprehension of key control environment requirements and experience with various audits (e.g. internal, external, SOX, SSAE16).
  • Excellent written and analytical skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Visio). Ability to understand and document processes and system flows.

Additional Information

Work Hours:

  • Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours
  • Coordinate coverage with other team members during time-off and holiday periods.  Ability to work outside of daily location work hours as needed.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires incumbent to travel less than 5% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds
