Job Description

The Visa Business Solutions (VBS) team is a world-class commercial organization experiencing tremendous, double-digit growth as we expand into new payment flows and continue to grow our core card solutions. This is an incredibly exciting time to join our team as we expand globally. Our team brings payment solutions and associated services to clients around the globe.  Our global clients and partners deploy our solutions to serve the needs of Small Businesses, Middle Market Clients, Large Corporate Clients, Multi Nationals and Governments.  We work closely with Issuers, Merchants, FinTechs and other ecosystem players to deliver these services.  We believe that the market is at an inflection point whereby Visa can play a larger role in building and delivering solutions around the world.  Our focus within Business Solutions is to identify needs, assess opportunities and options and quickly act upon our vision while ensuring strong execution.

 

The Senior Director, Global Small and Medium Enterprises creates, manages, and leads global initiatives to increase Visa’s presence, awareness, and impact for small businesses and small business payment providers.  Small Business payments are among the fastest growing payment sectors, and you will lead, identify and deliver against key global public and private partnerships, including Visa’s sponsorship of National Small Business Week; Back to Business: She’s Next Empowered by Visa; and the Visa Small Business Outlook.  You will be also be a key thought leader in the small business space, a senior leader on the Global Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Management Team within Visa Business Solutions, and the key liaison to various key partners, including marketing, communications, branding, and government relations.  You will also be the integral partner for the SME teams across the globe.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive SME strategy roadmap across global and regional teams.

  • Partner with Government Relations, Marketing and Communications colleagues to expand Visa’s position as a leader in the global small business market.

  • Create, design and lead global advocacy efforts for the SME team working with cross functional teams, including She’s Next Empowered by Visa, Visa Back to Business, and the Visa Small Business Outlook.

  • Champion Client Engagement through Net Promoter and other metrics.  Set vision for communication plans to significantly improve engagement.

  • Lead research efforts across the global franchise to gain insights on customer needs to help drive priorities and provide insights to clients.  Champion and create white papers and other communications to continue to enhance Visa’s position as the thought leader in the market.    

  • Establish and run global SME team operations including multiple initiatives to drive communication/collaboration, including regular global leadership meetings and client forums.

  • Represent Visa and the SME team in various industry conferences, public settings, and formal speaking engagements to drive advocacy efforts. 

Qualifications

10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in product management and/or launching new products within a financial technology or related company targeting small businesses.

  • Exceptional leadership, influencing skills and business acumen – thinks strategically to influence and drive tactical execution and prioritization.

  • Seasoned leader with extensive industry and functional expertise, including product management, software development, contract negotiations, marketing and sales.

  • Seasoned experience in evaluating existing, developing new and delivering a strategy

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to effectively work cross-organizationally and regionally

  • Ability to drive decisions and resolve conflicting situations.

  • Creativity and resourcefulness to overcome unexpected roadblocks

  • University degree required, MBA would be an asset

  • Strong knowledge of the SME segment with emphasis on financial management

  • The ability to translate analytics, research, client/consumer needs into actionable plans.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence key stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally to Visa and be an Ambassador for SME.

  • An ability to challenge preconceived attitudes and behaviors and shape future thinking.

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and create project teams to assist in execution and implementation of new products or services.

  • Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 10% of the time

Physical Requirements

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
