The Global ATM Network Product Office leads all aspects of the Visa ATM business which includes devising key market strategies, conducting complex analysis, and creating new opportunities focused on long term revenue growth and increasing market share. The day-to-day management of the ATM business includes direct oversight of a complex offering that contributes over $1.2B in annual revenue to Visa Inc, interfaces within all divisions and geographies across the company and is a core offering to clients worldwide. Specifically, in key markets, the ATM channel serves as a very important banking channel for Visa clients and continues to expand beyond its traditional role as primarily a cash dispensing device and more of an everyday banking center with such features as intelligent deposit, and multi account selection transfers and bill payments.

Overview

The Head of Cross Border ATM Partnerships will be a key leader on the Visa / PLUS Global ATM Product team and key contributor to both Visa’s Global Cross Border business unit and the Global Network Products organization.  This individual will have the overall responsibility for ensuring the growth of the Cross Border ATM business and executing against key strategies that include:

  1. Creating partnership constructs with both Issuers and Acquirers to win placement and routing and make Visa the network of choice for cross border transactions.

  2. Collaborating with key ATM providers and cross functional groups to message and make the ATM the preferred consumer channel when obtaining foreign cash (rather than branches or money changers)

  3. Develop and build key product differentiation over the Visa network that illustrates how Visa can provide key value to clients in the realm of Cross Border ATM usage 

This individual needs to be a strong leader who is proficient in building and executing against growth strategies and can ensure successful delivery across different regions around the world.

Key Responsibilities

This Sr Director position will be responsible for the following main areas of focus:

  • Revenue Generation / Business Development Initiatives:

    • Provide thought leadership and strategy development that includes creating partner specific deals that focus on growing Cross Border ATM transactions which make include winning key Issuer portfolios and  / or expanding usage within key product portfolios

    • Working with ATM Business Operations team to ensure Cross Border ATM transactions offer consistent cardholder experience (when DCC or Access Fee) and educate ATM Acquirers on recent XB ATM modifications (April 2019) and objectives to support ATM business and increase consumer demand

    • Seek out global acquiring partners to shift teller transactions to ATM, sell FX at ATM pre-trip and enable Issuers to understand benefits of shifting cash to card and ensuring cardholders take less foreign cash pre-trip

    • Work with marketing to continue Issuer toolkits and cardholder awareness campaigns to shift consumer behavior pre and during trip, and have easily identifiable ATMs upon arrival

  • Development of new ATM Products, Solutions and Capabilities: Work across the company on all Cross Border ATM related issues focused extensively on the leading the development and implementation of new ATM product initiatives including:

    • Creation of new ATM solutions including a Cross Border “surcharge free” network, white label or “on-us” capability for global FIs that minimize operational friction / reduce Issuer cost

    • Creation of a “cash-in” offering that allows foreign cash sent to home DDA

    • Expand capability for XB cash remittance and allows for XB money transfer to non cardholder

    • Develop value story, marketing collateral, communication plan and client facing materials related to these new ATM initiatives

    • Develop training material for the Sales teams to create more ATM product awareness and ensure Account Executives are more prepared to discuss ATM related issues with clients

    • Monitor, track and measure business impacts of new ATM initiatives

    • Conduct regular account reviews with key clients that highlight key ATM usage, trends and behaviors and identify areas for improvement and optimization

  • Lead a team of 3 – 5 individuals (direct and dual-line reports), including recruiting & hiring, team development, professional development and role modelling of the Visa Leadership Principles

The aforementioned areas of focus will require this individual to work closely with global teams representing Cross Border teams; Product; Pricing, Interchange and Strategy; Operations; Sales and Legal groups.

** Flexible to be based outside of the SF Bay Area, our Global Headquarters **

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT : This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 30-40% of the time.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree; 10 years of work experience with Masters/MBA/JD/MD; or a minimum of 8 years of work experience with a PhD

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10-15+ years payments experience preferred, ATM industry experience required, including several years of leadership experience in successful businesses that have strong track record of revenue generation, product management, strategic development and execution

  • Undergraduate Degree required, graduate degree/MBA preferred

  • Strategic thinker, excellent management skills, superior analytical skills with the ability to assess an opportunity's potential, leveraging fact-based analysis and industry experience

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen

  • Ability to handle complex projects with multiple work streams and proven leadership over a wide variety of stakeholders at junior through executive levels

  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, results driven, and flexible

  • Strong people leadership, management, interpersonal, and communication skills required

  • Global or multi-national business experience preferred

Physical Requirements

This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
