Job Description
As Senior Staff Systems Engineer, Network Performance and Analytics, your primary responsibility will be to focus on improving network monitoring, create visualization tools that help Tier 1 and 2 engineers identify network problems from large set of events and alerts. This position is critical for maintaining high uptime for VISA network. You will be working very closely with network operations, engineering and monitoring team to develop world class tools to auto remediate network events. Our customers want higher availability, more visibility, better network performance , root cause analysis, and prediction of failures. This position will help build the best-in-class Network that can provide performance monitoring, what-if analysis, root cause analysis, prediction for global network infrastructure.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
15-18 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or
12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD or PhD)
Prior experience in next-generation network/product architecture design for large-scale network deployments for high-volume, high-availability consumer-facing and B2B network interactions
Experience working with highly-effective engineering teams through major technology transitions
Prior experience in driving and leading enterprise technology and cultural transformation programs
Demonstrated technical knowledge of networking technologies and solid understanding of the software-defined networking ecosystem
Prior experience in a dedicated role around defining network strategy
Demonstrated consistent and steady growth in career
Prior experience in non-Cisco networking technologies
Hands-on experience in designing and deploying large scale-out network technologies
Experience in managing cost-reduction programs
Great communicator and able to drive consensus across diverse/global technology teams
Track record in developing next-generation leaders
Demonstrated successful experience with metrics/KPI-based deliverables with accountability
Knowledge of networking technologies including monitoring services
Network programming using Ansible, Python
Prior experience with datacenter monitoring and management
Networking Technologies such as SNMP, Netflow, Flow analysis, BGP
Experience developing service oriented systems, REST, python
Exposure to Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Storm, Ganglia, Nagios, openTSDB, Elasticsearch or other distributed compute platforms
Hands on expertize on commercial network monitoring tools.
Additional Information
Essential Functions:
Responsible for supporting and optimizing a large scale, complex, high performance network
In-depth knowledge of internet architectures and associated routing, switching, load balancing and security technologies are required.
Identify, Automate, and improve Operational processes, mitigate and eliminate potential risk, defects, trends for a rapid scale of the environment
Ensure network agility without compromising quality
Strong understanding of Network Monitoring, developing visualization and reporting capabilities
Programmatically analyze network incidents/ Alerts and develop automated solutions for close loop remediation.
Integrate health monitoring of underlying infrastructure to application services and their dependencies by BU group
A high level understanding of multi-tiered application traffic flow, server load balancing, global load balancing, and firewalls
Audit and assess network for requirements and best practices.
Participate fully in the development, testing and QA functions to ensure that projects are securely delivered and fulfill expectations
Provide technical consultancy to ensure problem resolution is achieved in the shortest possible time frame
Work Hours:
- Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours.
Travel Requirements:
- This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 5% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
