Job Description

Our team helps guide Visa's strategic initiatives toward emerging financial and payment technologies.

We are looking for an experienced and versatile full stack engineer with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming and experience with scripting languages. We value competence and initiative – we’re more interested in the time you’ve spent on projects and the quality of your work than your years of job experience.

Ideally, you have fantastic communication skills and are excited to work with everyone from fellow engineers to product managers to QA to business teams and external customers. You’re just as flexible when it comes to code: you’re comfortable touching anything from basic HTML, CSS and javascript to MySQL queries, and you’re excited to work on projects ranging from user flows to data processing algorithms.

Responsibilities

  • Build, deploy and experiment with blockchain related technologies.
  • Design and build web services (REST) that are highly available, fault tolerant, idempotent and able to gracefully handle intermittent failures of underlying services.
  • Author the corresponding documentation.
  • Optimize our algorithms so that the we will be able to return information fast (and we mean really fast...and for large numbers of users)
  • Meet our partners and learn what code and logic changes are needed in order to support them
  • Participate in expanding our platform’s availability over multiple geo locations
  • Help our system provide high quality output by improving its algorithms and reducing fraudulent activities
  • Write code to orchestrate our Amazon Web Services infrastructure.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • 2+ years of full-stack, professional development experience preferred.
  • Experience with Cryptocurrencies and blockchain.
  • Proficient with object-oriented languages such as Java, C++, Objective C, or Scala
  • Solid understanding of communication protocols and experience building APIs
  • Experience with scripting languages
  • MySQL and/or NoSQL DB experience.
  • Caching technologies (e.g., Memcache and Redis)
  • Nice-to-have: experience with front-end technologies (JavaScript, Ajax, HTML, and CSS), PHP, Python, DevOps especially deploying to Amazon Web Services.

Physical Requirements

  • This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.

Work Hours

  • Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours.
