Job Description

Visa Issuer Processing focuses on building and deploying innovative solutions to enable and secure Visa transactions around the globe. Our mission is to launch new, market-leading offerings that create tremendous value for Issuers and Emerging Payments Providers.

The Project Management Office (PMO) team builds bridges across Visa by collaborating with our business partners and technology teams to ensure programs and projects are delivered on-time and with quality.  We are seeking a PMO Director to provide leadership, collaboration, training, and guidance to a team of Project Managers and Scrum Masters leveraging Waterfall and Agile methodologies.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Essential Functions: 

  • You’ll play a leadership role in managing a team of Program Manager, Project Managers (PMs), Scrum Masters and Release Managers who support highly visible Technology program and projects
  • You’ll provide leadership and direction to promote successful project delivery
  • You’ll build and maintain a high performing team; hire and retain the right talent and ensure Program Manager, Project Manager and Scrum Master career growth
  • You’ll develop and empower direct reports to make appropriate program / project-related decisions while fostering a culture of teamwork, collaboration and mentoring
  • You’ll manage proper distribution and allocation of resources, implementation of budgets, provide budget and financial reporting to technology and business executives and mentor PMs on budgeting
  • You’ll work collaboratively across cross-functional areas within Visa to drive overall program success
  • You’ll communicate status and advanced technical issues verbally and in writing to technical staff, product partners and senior management at the appropriate level
  • You’ll assist in the coordination and facilitation of fiscal year planning activities across multiple organizations
  • You’ll promote continual learning and process improvements to deliver projects from inception to conclusion
  • You’ll manage the coordination of activities and communication across global distributed locations
  • You’ll be an advocate for activities and practices that help boost overall employee engagement

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • You have 10-12 years of technical program or project management experience in a fast-paced environment navigating ambiguity successfully in large complex projects in a matrix organization
  • You have experience in people management and cross-functional team leadership and experience managing technical teams
  • You bring a start-up mindset to the management approach…you see needs and fill them
  • You are an excellent problem-solver and critical-thinker with the ability to identify and remove barriers and enable teams to complete their objectives
  • You are a great listener and can communicate clearly with many types of people
  • You can tackle a project or process with a waterfall or agile mindset and can coach a team through either approach
  • You are self-motivated and highly driven
  • You have waterfall and Agile (Scrum/Kanban) development methodology experience
  • PMP and Scrum Master certification preferred

Physical Requirements

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
