Job Description

Position Summary

This position is for an attorney in Visa’s Legal group covering Cybersource and Authorize.Net.  The job is based in Foster City, Ca.  The job reports to the Vice President and Associate General Counsel who covers this area.

Job Scope:

  • Providing day to day legal support to account executives, product teams, and other internal clients

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating of a range of agreements with external Visa clients     

  • Reviewing presentations and other materials

  • Keeping abreast of changes in the law and periodically training internal team and clients

  • Coordinating with other functions at Visa

  • Working to improve internal processes

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Juris Doctorate degree with strong academic record from an accredited law school

  • 8+ years of legal experience covering drafting and negotiating commercial and licensing agreements for technology platforms, including experience as lead associate

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Prior in-house experience preferred but not required

  • Experience working with Sales teams and advising Product teams

  • Experience in IP, IT, data protection, contract and commercial law preferred

  • Knowledge payment service industry, background in technology or computer science preferred

  • Exceptional analytical ability and advocacy skills

  • Excellent written, oral communication and negotiation skills

  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution in a team environment, integrating legal advice and business knowledge while providing balanced advice regarding risks and benefits

  • Strong people skills with proven ability to build strong working relationships with internal clients at all levels of management and work on cross-functional teams on complex deals

  • Practical and proactive problem-solver; confident, mature, calm under fire, with a positive attitude

  • Strong work ethic for a fast-paced environment

  • Admitted to CA bar in good standing or eligible for Registered in house counsel in CA.

Work Hours:

  • Varies upon the needs of the department

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
