Job Description

Visa Treasury is seeking an insurance professional who has the necessary leadership and experience to provide support across a variety of corporate insurance activities. The position will report to the Vice President, Head of Global Insurance.  Our risk management operations provide cost effective property and casualty coverage for Visa’s business operations around the globe, including property and casualty as well as executive liability programs.  Additionally, we set insurance standards for the roughly 2,000 vendors that do business with Visa, and manage the claims process and insurance renewal processes. 

You will use your broad experience and natural curiosity to deliver activities and projects relating to developing unique ways in which to apply insurance products and services to Visa’s various business units. Additionally, you will use your sound judgment and exercise initiative to assess and develop efficient ways in which to mitigate the risk of loss to Visa through the use of traditional or self-insurance.

Essential Functions:

Program Processes and Procedures

  • Review leases, contracts and other legal documents to evaluate appropriateness of wording and assure compliance with insurance policies
  • Continue to develop and enhance contract standards for insurance and indemnification wording
  • Develop standard processes and procedures for insurance function where needed
  • Establish standards for cost allocations, if appropriate
  • Develop and maintain historical exposure and other vital information regarding global corporate insurance programs

Insurance Renewal Process

  • Participate in the management of the annual insurance renewal process
  • Compile and prepare company information for brokers and insurers in connection with the marketing and renewal of our global insurance programs
  • Assist the VP Head of Global Insurance with the preparation of insurance presentations for the renewal roadshows and quarterly reports to executive management
  • Review proposal quotes and renewal terms and recommend action
  • Evaluate adequacy of limits and appropriateness of retentions/deductibles
  • Negotiate insurance placement pricing, structure and limits for all global insurance policies and service agreements
  • Conduct cost/benefit analysis of program alternatives
  • Review binders, policies and endorsements to ensure accuracy and the inclusion of negotiated terms and conditions

Communications

  • Provide consultation and technical advice on insurance issues to corporate and regional management through presentations to various corporate and business functional teams
  • Prepare and present financial and departmental reports to management
  • Prepare and manage annual insurance budget

Claims Management

  • Analyze loss data to identify trends and identify appropriate cost containment techniques
  • Investigate major losses, collaborate with legal, broker, and insurer(s) to manage claims process and negotiate settlements as appropriate

Other

  • Assist VP Head of Insurance with insurance due diligence and other support for M&A transactions, including insurance integration of newly acquired entities
  • Assist VP Head of Insurance with management of captive insurance participant operations

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD degree
  • At least 7 years corporate insurance and contract review experience
  • Experience with M&A Integrations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business judgment to manage risk and business tradeoffs, manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with broad risk management and Captive requirements
  • Ability to prioritize and manage high volume workload
  • The candidate will need to interact with senior management and business leaders, as well as, develop strong working relationships with external constituents, such as brokers, insurers, suppliers and attorneys.  
  • Other desired qualities:  strong strategic and analytic corporate finance skill set; ability to be effective in executing transactions; flexible and creative thinker with sound business judgment.

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds
