Job Description

Position Summary

The Staff SW Engineer, a motivated senior individual contributor based in Austin, will be part of the Visa Online and Global Partner Portals Engineering Team that reports into the Digital and Developer Platform Group. The role will be a key centerpiece in all collaboration with User Experience Designers, Technology Engineers and Product Owners on Visa Online and Global Partner Portal. The role will provide UI engineering support to the engineering leader of the team, impact and influence every user experience decision for the team through the lifecycle from design to delivery, and communicate design visions and design languages. The role will also interact with diverse teams of Product and Technology partners, be recognized as a key UI engineering subject matter expert to facilitate deep design discussions and workshops.

This role is well versed with the latest UI trends and standards, web accessibility guidelines and practices, and knows how and when to apply as well as when to think out of the box. This role is more than just a very strong technical individual but also a high energy engineer who inspires others.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deliver and maintain all UI engineering implementations on Visa Online and Global Partner Portal.
  • Function as the UI engineering subject matter expert for Visa Online and Global Partner Portal.
  • Align with the direction and information provided by the engineering leaders to drive delivery of robust and usable UI deliverables to meet requirements and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with a geographically diverse group of Product and Technology partners to drive the continuous UI improvements on Visa Online and Global Partner Portal.
  • Engage with other Product and Technology partners across Visa and be a voice of influence in evangelizing the best and latest in UI, User Experience and Accessibility.
  • Deliver all assigned responsibilities in a timely manner and with a high level of quality within an agile and dynamic environment.

Qualifications

General Qualifications     

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology disciplines.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on working experience in the IT industry, with in-depth architectural and hands-on technical knowledge on building engaging, extendable, usable, reusable and accessible UI (applications and components) .
  • Possess robust creative analytical skills to define product and technological directions, and elicit business requirements to translate into technical specifications amidst ambiguity.
  • Possess ability to collaborate with both Product and Technology counterparts to facilitate design discussions.
  • Strong articulation, interpersonal and collaboration abilities are required.
  • Strong time management, organization and planning skills are required.
  • Solid ability to set priorities in a multi-tasking environment is required
  • Self-starter with a deep sense of ownership and demonstrated ability to achieve results with ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task under tight deadlines.
  • High energy authentic individual who is able to lead, motivate, influence and up-level the team positively.

Technical Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and modern JavaScript UI frameworks such as Angular and/or React is required.
  • Strong hands-on experience and understanding of UX, design techniques and principles is required.
  • Hands-on experience with deriving conceptual design prototypes, wireframes, and HTML Prototypes is required.
  • Understanding with Web Standards and Accessibility Best Practices is required.
  • Hands-on experience with responsive Design Principles is required.
  • Any hands-on experience with server-side web application frameworks and languages such as Ruby, Rails, C#, ASP.Net, JAVA, Spring MVC, Struts, JS, or NodeJS is highly advantageous.
  • Any understanding and past design experience with Adobe Experience Manager is highly advantageous.

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
