Job Description

Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for leading production support for extract, transform, load in Mainframe applications that run large distributed batch processing involving petabytes of data
  • Work with Vendors, different teams to perform root cause analysis, and identify permanent solutions to fix problems as needed
  • Review and validate Change install plans and strictly adhere to the processes and guidelines relating to change, incident, and problem management
  • Lead and collaborate problem bridges with others from different functional and technical areas and escalating as needed to resolve problems in a timely manner.  
  • Automate processing and ensuring timely execution, delivery, and availability
  • Responsible for identifying knowledge gaps and providing technical guidance to team members as needed
  • Provide updates and contribute to the team’s knowledge repository
  • Identify improvement opportunities, and build Automation as well as engaging in performance tuning and data fixing activities
  • Participate in to capacity planning activities.
  • Build and enforce code standardization. 
  • Build dashboards for SLA/OLA.

Qualifications

-Minimum 7-9 years of level 2 production support role.
- Hands on experience on Mainframe technologies (Cobol, JCL, VSAM, MVS)
-Very Good knowledge and hands on Experience on SQL and DB2 Database.
-Experience with shell scripting, Java scripting and any other scripting languages.
-Good to have Experience in Open System technologies (Java and Hadoop)
-Experience with application support organization working in 24*7 environments.
-Good communication skill and ability to work as team player.
-Strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn is a must
-Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, application design, and implementing major components for large projects.
-Knowledge of monitoring tools, alert escalation, customer / vendor management etc.
-Build tools to automate production support activities that enable efficiency and productivity of Service desk and other operations groups.
-Familiarity and/or experience in implementing ITIL concepts in addition to technical aptitude are highly valued.
-Job holder must have flexibility to work in shifts and during weekends and extended hours when needed
-You must have strong self-motivation, sense of ownership and ability to retain focus under stress during crisis situation
-You must have strong business ethics, self-discipline and trustworthiness to handle sensitive confidential data in live production environment
-A bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science or a related degree.
