Job Description

Visa's  Applied Cryptography team is looking for a Lead Cybersecurity Engineer, Applied Cryptography with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) expertise who can lead a Global team to support Visa's Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and  support implemented key management systems and Host Security Modules (HSM).  The Lead Cybersecurity Engineer, Applied Cryptography   is a leader on a PKI and encryption solutions team.  This team provides critical encryption and digital certificate services to Visa’s Global services and infrastructure. The team is expected to also provide implementation expertise involving specialized knowledge of the complex systems and applications as it relates to encryption programs implemented in transaction processing/routing, cybersecurity, and its implications to clients and cardholders.  This individual is responsible for the implementation of PKI and asymmetric encryption programs, projects and other sensitive activities for cybersecurity, transaction processing, a variety of Visa initiatives. This includes: Providing technical and consultative support on digital certificates, PKI, compliance, cybersecurity, asymmetric encryption, symmetric encryption, and HSMs.

Essential Functions

  • Manage a team of Global PKI professionals supporting Visa’s Global PKI infrastructure and critical services.
  • Provide Level 3 Support on Applied Cryptography, Recognized as a subject matter expert and contributor to Visa PKI and encryption technologies.
  • Design, propose and review new encryption solutions & implementation, and provide functional and technical support for program, project and core PKI needs.
  • Evaluates current global and technology specific processes to determine process improvements, and how best to gain more effectiveness and efficiency
  • Takes a leadership role with PKI use, implementation and delivery
  • Proactively drives team collaboration
  • Mentors team on learning new technologies, uses cases and implementations.
  • Review, update and create PKI policies, procedures and technical security requirements in collaboration with the Security Architecture teams
  • Takes a leadership role with coordinating internal / external industry audits in collaboration with Visa internal teams
  • Takes a leadership role in Reporting & implementing changes needed for industry compliance
  • Takes a leadership role in Reporting to management industry trends and recommendations.
  • Takes a leadership role in maintaining  and supporting of multiple PKI implementations and technologies.
  • Lead and participate in projects to deploy new PKI applications and services
  • Ability to support and work non-traditional work hours, not limited to weekends, and evenings.
  • Provide Asymmetric and symmetric encryption subject matter expertise in Applied Cryptography Audits
  • Provide input into encryption policies

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:  10 years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD.

Preferred Experience:  

  • Functional experience in PKI operations  supporting highly complex clients and/or services.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of PKI systems including EJBCA, Active Directory Certificate Services, and Venafi.
  • Working knowledge of PKI implementations and services
  • Working knowledge of Data Encryption technologies
  • Demonstrated, detailed knowledge of the full breadth of systems, products and services required for mature PKI implementations.
  • Project management background.
  • Demonstrated, detailed knowledge of industry compliance requirements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Complex analytical skills.

Work Hours

  • Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours.

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 0-5% of the time

Physical Requirements

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
