Job Description

What’s it all about?

The Director will be responsible for reviewing/executing preventative and detective Controls across a range of processes within the Visa Europe region.  The role will be responsible for performing detailed reviews of anomalies, assessing the root cause of potential exceptions and supporting remediation efforts. This role will be based in London, reporting directly to Head of Internal Controls – Controllership, Finance.

The responsibilities of the Director will include the following:

  • Execute upon the vision, mission, strategies and annual goals for the CCM function in alignment with the Company's goals.
  • Responsible for the Continuous Controls Monitoring activity in the Europe region.
  • Act as a driver of continuous improvement and innovation of the controls environment. Use direct experience, external benchmarking and knowledge of regulatory expectations to support the management’s stated goal of developing a strong industry leading controls function.
  • Work with Country Controllers to investigate and analyze potential anomalies, and to assess compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Work with local and regional stakeholders, to address issues identified, and to support immediate and longer-term solutions.  For example, work with senior stakeholders throughout the organization to provide input on procedures which do not currently exist.
  • In collaboration with the Country Controllers, share the testing results with Country Managers, external auditors and Senior Leadership to provide a current state of the local and/or global control environment.
  • Aggregate and/or analyze data meaningfully to identify unusual trends, anomalies and non-compliant transactions with the various Company policies and procedures.
  • Provide feedback to centralized CCM Program Owners on improvements to existing queries and suggestions for new scripts to be performed.

Strategic Nature, Management, Accountability and Scope:

  • Results of the CCM activities in Visa Europe will be shared with central Internal Controls team, Regional Controllers, Regional and Country Leadership teams.  Ultimately, results of the work performed by the Internal Controls team may be shared with Global Corporate Controller, Senior management, the Audit Committee, Internal and External auditors.

Decision Making and Complexity:

  • This position requires extensive interaction with senior business owners and senior management across the region. The individual is expected to use sound discretion and professional judgment when interacting with senior management and stakeholders.
  • This position should at all times make decisions on what will be most beneficial to the company, strive for an optimum balance between the benefits and cost of implementing and executing controls.

Reporting Relationships and Interactions:

  • This position will be located in London and will report to the Head of Internal Controls – Controllership, Finance.
  • Work extensively in a team environment and provide direction to assist other members in cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Aspiring and competent team leader.
  • Excellent business and communication skills with the ability to influence Senior Management.
  • Extensive data analysis skills and an aptitude for understanding and interpreting complex data-sets.
  • Prior experience using Power Query/ Power BI.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.
  • Creative, self-starter, quick thinker and dedicated individual who is eager to put his/her stamp on this job role.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and operate autonomously
  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible.
  • Strong controls, compliance and auditing background particularly finance, compliance, contract, IT and performance audits.
  • Flexibility in schedule and for travel. 
     

Required Experience:

  •  Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Masters Degree
  • Extensive experience required 
  • Previous audit experience is required; experience in a Big 4 firm is preferred
  • Previous experience in leading a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; must be motivated, hard-working and team oriented
  • Ability to produce high quality and/or final work product under strict deadlines
  • Certifications:  CIA / CPA / CISA preferred
