Job Description

The Senior Trainer – North America (NA) is a member of Visa University’s Market Learning organization reporting to the NA Director of Learning Delivery and is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of industry and Visa-specific training for Visa employees and client partners, including senior stakeholders at financial institutions, merchants, Fintech and other external audiences. The ideal candidate is a proven individual leader with deep knowledge of the payments industry as well an energy and passion to facilitate engaging training programs both in person and virtually to influence and impact Visa’s business. Due to the need for knowledge mastery and client-facing exposure, this role requires strong executive presence and extensive experience facilitating and consulting with executive-level learners. The Senior Trainer will also help train, certify and work with Visa University SME faculty in order to scale training delivery where possible.

Essential Functions

  • Use extensive industry and/or Visa expertise across a broad range of business subjects and be able to delve and direct discussions with NA stakeholder audiences to provide maximum impact.
  • Lead by example and role model a passion for best-in-class training delivery.
  • Champion excellence in facilitation and knowledge competence.
  • Communicate openly with key stakeholders internally and externally to build deep and trusted partner relationships that have a clear understanding of needs and objectives and a focus on ease of doing business.
  • Effectively utilize training delivery to promote and inspire a culture of learning that encourages continuous performance improvement, innovation, and learner engagement.
  • Bring an innovative mind set to each training experience and champion new ideas and ways of delivering and engaging learners.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally as needed to ensure training materials are updated and training is delivered as One Visa and aligned with common goals.
  • Deliver training curriculum from the School of Digital Payments, both in person and virtually, against a schedule that will meet learner demands and support organizational goals and priorities.
  • Provide pre-class and follow-up support for learner queries as needed in a timely manner.
  • Support online forums, communities and social media platforms that enable learner engagement and connection pre- or post-training sessions.
  • Engage with the learner population to develop empathy and understanding.
  • Identify on an ongoing basis potential learning gaps and/or needs of clients, partners and employees and ensure feedback cross functionally within Visa University.
  • Engage cross functionally with subject matter experts to ensure that you stay on top of the latest information and developments in your domain areas. Stay on top of industry developments in your domain areas.
  • Collaborate, as SME and reviewer, with VU Shared Services functions during content development and continuous improvement updates as needed.
  • Ensure class evaluations are completed and the highest standards are maintained based on management, stakeholder, and COE standards.
  • Actively review the effectiveness and efficiency of deliveries for continuous improvement.
  • Work with other Trainers as needed for cross-training purposes.
  • Ability to learn new non-client topics quickly and deliver effectively as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  •  4+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of work experience and a Bachelor’s Degree or 6 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree.
  • 8+ years with progressive experience in training delivery or relevant professional experience as a disputes resolutions subject matter expert.
  • Deep knowledge of the payments business, preferably Visa’s products and services and regulatory landscape. 
  • Strong knowledge of disputes resolution processes and regulations is a must
  • Strong, polished executive presence and business acumen a must.

  • Passion for teaching and facilitation and providing the best learning experiences for learners.
  • Ability to deliver learning programs using single channel or blended approaches, including virtual and classroom-based instructor-led training (ILT), peer-to-peer learning, on-the-job learning and e-Learning (achieves NPS of +80 and higher).
  • Proven ability to increase learner engagement in course facilitation, social media and communities.
  • Ability to comprehend and translate complex technical concepts into terms that are easy to understand for non-industry audiences in an influential and persuasive manner.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and consulting skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management, relationship management and influencing skills at all levels in an organization.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapidly changing content and strategies.
  • Location is flexible and requires willingness and ability to travel as needed to deliver training globally.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish or Portuguese preferred to allow for delivery collaboration with LAC region.
