Job Description

Are you an advocate for prepaid products and enabling new payment flows around the globe? The Director– Global Prepaid will be a core member of the Global Prepaid team, responsible for driving growth of Visa prepaid products globally and in priority markets. Our team works in sync with local and regional product and other functional leaders. We assess consumer demands and market needs, help form partnerships, and drive innovation including the development of new prepaid product features.

The Global Prepaid team is passionate about bringing prepaid solutions to market that convert cash and checks into digital payments. Globally, there is over $3.5T in cash and check that is addressable with prepaid products including general purpose reloadable, travel, remittance, payroll, government and corporate disbursements, and healthcare. The market has seen a dramatic expansion in users and the entrance of Fintech / challenger bank models.  Prepaid has untapped potential as a platform for emerging mobile banking products serving millennials, gig economy workers, parents teaching their children financial literacy, and mobile-centric segments. Prepaid products are also a key vehicle for the financial inclusion of millions of unbanked and underbanked consumers worldwide, and disbursement of humanitarian aid to displaced persons after natural disasters and conflicts.

Essential Functions:
Reporting directly to the Global Head of Prepaid, the Director will have primary responsibility to implement our strategy to streamline the onboarding process for prepaid programs. This role will require global coordination with Visa Sales, Client Services, AML, Brand, Risk, and Product colleagues in every region. The Director will apply a relentless focus on:

  • simplifying complex steps
  • eliminating duplicate efforts
  • reducing time to launch
  • refining criteria for internal stakeholder review
  • improving client satisfaction with the onboarding process and
  • automating manual tasks where possible. 

As a secondary responsibility, the Director will provide critical backup to the Global Prepaid Rule Owner. This involves guiding prepaid rule changes and waivers through the process of concept, development, review, approval and publication. The role will obtain all regional stakeholder approvals as appropriate, documenting and managing this process in coordination with the Visa Rules Committee. The Director will play a supporting role in providing colleagues with accurate interpretation and analysis of Visa Rules in response to inquiries.

Finally, this role will help drive on-going innovation and expansion of Visa’s existing core prepaid products and related services. The Director will provide support across product, sales and other teams based on identified regional needs. This role will identify local and regional best practices, and cascade them globally. Success in this area will involve improving our visibility into the use cases and regions that are experiencing strong growth or changes, and surfacing actionable insights.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12-15 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • Minimum 7 years of experience, preferably in the payments or financial services industries
  • Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple parties to deliver a product
  • Strong product management experience in business portal, payment industry and/or API management
  • Adept in Agile development methodologies
  • Demonstrated strength at building relationships, highly motivated, strong sense of urgency, ability to motivate others
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a flair for getting people excited
  • Team player, with proven track record of taking initiative and ownership of responsibilities and deliverables
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree optional
