Job Description

Visa Direct is a payment service that Visa provides to clients (issuers, acquirers, processors, merchants and service providers) to facilitate fund transfers/disbursements to Visa accounts around the world using push payment technology, i.e. Original Credit Transaction (OCT). Visa Direct consumer and business applications include person-to-person (P2P) transfer, person to micro-business transfer (e.g. payments to landscaper), funds disbursement (e.g. insurance claim disbursements), bill payment, cross-border remittance and more. Currently, the push payments market around the world is estimated to be an $80T opportunity.

The North America Visa Direct Enablement team is responsible for ensuring that the payment ecosystem stakeholders that sit between a company that wants to disburse funds to a card and the Visa network can successfully support Visa Direct transactions.  We refer to such stakeholders as “Enablers”, and they include acquirers, VisaNet processors, gateways, ISOs, and integrated software vendors.  The team’s primary responsibility is to grow the number of ready Visa Direct Enablers in North America and that they are operating at scale.  The Visa Direct Enablement team works cross-functionally with Visa sales, client services, finance and legal teams to ensure client success. 

The Senior Director, Visa Direct Enabler Optimization will  be responsible for working with live and new enablers to ensure they have the proper infrastructure and market-facing capabilities to support multiple push-to-card use cases, efficiently onboard merchants and grow transaction volume.  The role requires a client-focused professional who can collaborate with Visa Direct partners, analyze their current portfolios, and make actionable recommendations. 

This is a cross functional role so organizational savvy and interpersonal skills are critical as we interface with other specialized product groups, financial institution sales, merchant sales, operations, technology, risk, analytics, marketing and corporate communications, legal, corporate strategy, and finance to coordinate the build, launch and sell Visa Direct. We are looking for a highly motivated, positive individual with a proven track record of success in fast-paced environments with demanding timelines to join the team

Essential Functions

  • Design, develop and lead the Visa Direct Enabler Optimization Program, including offering (analytics, reporting, benchmarking, recommendations), target enabler clients, and client engagement model

    • Cultivate strong understanding of payments landscape to identify target partners.  Collaborate with Visa sales teams to initiate Enabler Optimization discussions with targets
    • Partner with client and internal stakeholders to design compelling customer-facing solutions and approach for integration to the Visa network
    • Recommend and develop creative approaches for clients to build and grow their push-to-card disbursements business.  Develop and share implementation and commercialization best practices
    • Drive creation of compelling package of Visa Direct sales and streamlined implementation materials geared to enablers:  acquirers, VisaNet processors, gateways, ISOs and integrated software vendors.
  • Partner with enabler clients to lead overall implementation and commercialization projects. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure partner implementations are on track and delivering against plan
  • Create internal tracking/reporting to share with cross-functional teams (global product, client services, sales) to keep them apprised of enabler commercialization readiness status and market-facing functionality.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, 10 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15-18 years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, or PhD)
  • 8+ years business experience in client-facing professional services and/or project/program management
  • 5+ years of payments industry experience preferred; Visa and financial/payment industry knowledge considered a strong asset
  • Advanced data analytics and creative problem-solving skills with a strong focus on outcomes
  • Outstanding executive communication skills (verbal and visual) with an ability to explain complex business and technical concepts to broad audiences in an approachable way
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to correlate data and trends to business drivers, while thinking big and leading executive messaging. This position is expected to utilize data and metrics to communicate needs with ease
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with ability to establish trust and credibility and influence key stakeholders across various lines of business and functions
  • Self-starter able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative and cross-functional environment that is results-driven
  • Strong collaboration and facilitation skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams with clarity and energy
  • Adept at managing a complex and varied workload, and ability to lead multiple ongoing projects and deliverables

  • This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
